And I'm still bemused by the women's game - Wozniacki is the world #1?!?! How did that happen?!?!

No one's sure about that.

Well, technically she's not. She's the #1 seed in Serena's absence though.

:wuzrobbed: Serena :drama:, I hope Clijster wins because it seems Jankovic doesn´t look able to do it :(

Federer for the win :encore:, if not possible then Murray to finally get a Slam and sing the happy sour song , but my dream would be Nalbandian getting it :cheer:

Apparently, shortly after the conclusion of the draw, Vera was heard shrieking. Everyone around her was thinking, "Oh, no, what's Vera crying about now? Did she break a nail or something?" But this time, they soon learned, it was actually shouts of joy. As soon as she heard that she was in Jankovic's quarter, she decided to throw a party. Even invited a couple of folks from FSU. ;)

^ Good one. It IS a good draw for Vera methinks. Which means, according to WTA rules, she'll find a way, by hook or by crook, to cock it all up.

Ignore that Tennis Gods!

Those of you, FSU folks, that were invited (I wasn´t! :drama:) must know that I got my Vera doll :EVILLE:

:P

Oh, and I got my Moya light beer bottle (http://estaticos03.marca.com/blogs/fuera-de-juego/imagenes_posts/2010/08/27/moya570.jpg) too. Uhm, it doesn´t look like parenthood has supposed a big change :shuffle:

To our great benefit some people never change. Or should I say grow up? :P

Speaking of which, according to Peter Bodo (http://tennisworld.typepad.com/tennisworld/2010/08/my-entry-1.html), Mr. Nole never showed up at the draw yesterday because apparently he decided to drive on his own (yes, in NYC!).

I know the highway system in the New York boroughs, and trust me, if you're from Serbia, you don't want to have to find your way around out this way. Even if you're from Connecticut, you don't. And the tournament gave Djokovic a courtesy car of his own to use during the event. Like giving a toddler a loaded gun. Good luck, Novak, you could make Pittsburgh by nightfall.

He's brave to even attempt it. I've lived in the NYC metro area for 38 years and driving through the boroughs, especially Manhattan, still freaks me out.

Djok, we need you in one piece for next week, leave the driving to the pros!

Here's a video/slideshow (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mkHRDXFBI1w&feature=player_embedded) of pics of players when they're kids vs now.

Some of them almost didn't change. Especially Roddick, just put a Lacoste hat on him et voila!

I bet they're still looking for him somewhere in Pennsylvania!

How can people not like Djokovic, he´s just a fountain of hilarity (and I hope again of really good game). Poor, such a brave, but not smart, thing to do ;)

US Open qualifying has been going on this week but they are now a day behind thanks to lots of rain earlier in the week. Yippee, 18 year old Ryan Harrison was one of the few to qualify today for the main draw. He beat a Brazilian player 6-4 in the 3rd for his third win and a place in the main draw. Tomorrow old guys Robert Kendrick (C'mon Robert) and Kevin Kim play their last match in an attempt to qualify.

Canada seems to be doing well with at least 4 players into the 3rd rd tomorrow including Dancevic, Polansky, DuBois, and Tetreault and maybe some others as well.

America Irina Falconi might be the lone US entry in the 3rd rd for the ladies but I'll have to check that to be sure. Larcher de Brito, Lucic, and Karantantcheva all play tomorrow with hopes of qualifying. Also 16 year old Brit Laura Robson and Sania Mirza too.

15 year old Madison Keys has lost in qualifying. Last week she passed up an opportunity to play for a wild card with direct entry into the Open. Instead she opted to playing qualifying instead and unfortunately her decision backfired on her. 17 year old Sloane Stephens also lost in qualifying.

Yes, so far so good! :cheer:

All the Canadian men in the qualis, Dancevic, Polansky (my favourite Canuck by far :cheer2:) and Raonic are through to the final round.

On women's side, in addition to Dubois and Tetrault we have Sharon Fichman & Rebecca Marino who will play each other for a spot in the MD.

Not anymore. Apparently he crashed into a pasture owned by an Amish farmer near Harrisburg. Nobody was hurt, except a few weeds. Surprisingly enough, the Amish farmer recognized him and even asked for his autograph. Then, to show there were no hard feelings about knocking down his fence, the farmer packed up Djok's car with lots of fresh goat milk and cheese. With that kind of nutrition, if Djok doesn't win this year, he never will! ;)

BTW, I heard that the pirozhki were pretty bland at Vera's party, while the borscht was out of this world. Maybe someone else on here can tell us more. :)

Djokovic just posted a blog entry (http://www.novakdjokovic.rs/news.php?akcija=vise&id=707&jezik=2) (with quite a few driving photos ) so I guess two days later, he's finally accounted for and already practising his rapping (http://www.facebook.com/home.php?#!/photo.php?pid=7427689&fbid=473285905999&id=277527820999) gig (http://www.facebook.com/home.php?#!/photo.php?pid=7427690&fbid=473285920999&id=277527820999) with the Bryan Bros (http://tweetphoto.com/41752564) for the Arthur Ashe Kid;s Day.

In less fluffy news, apparently he's in NYC with the Serbian DC captain as his coach and without Marian Vajda who couldn't travel for personal reasons. I wonder if there's more to that than just "personal" reasons'' alone. :watch:
