^I agree; after his 03 win, I would never have believed we'd be sitting here seven years later, and that would still be his only GS win. Of course he aint done yet, but, well like we said... His three problems are Federer, Nadal and the lack of progress in his game. I just don't think his game developed in a way it needed to to stay at the top; he's been looking stale for a while now to me.

Bepa :(

Chakvetadze still winning; into the semis in Copenhagen!

:sekret: says that Coco is a mega brat, so can't say I'm happy about the result; also because I love Bepa.

There's been some  about the questionable line calling in Copenhagen, particularly in the Görges/Wozniacki match in which the calls all went in Wozniacki's favor. In the tie break, there were three points that should've gone to Julia, but instead gave Caroline a 6-3 lead...that tournament really needs Hawkeye :o Especially when it's a tournament designed just for one player....

Anna C. has the right strategy - playing low level tournaments and qualies to get some wins in - and it's paying off. Some others *cough*Ana*cough* should do the same. I hope she wins tomorrow! She said she likes having the crowd against her :EVILLE:

She DF 4 times in one game to get broken serving for the set. Now Sveta's serving for it at 6-5.

:sekret: Coco's had a pretty sheltered lifestyle. Hates traveling outside the US; thinks other countries & foreign people are "weird" and people there aren't nice to her. Said Wimbledon facilities were a dump. Refuses to even go to the French. Hated Russia (went there as a practice partner for Fed Cup). :slinkaway Several people who knew her had not nice things to say...

Sveta takes the first set 7-5

I actually think Roddick in many ways is an overachiever though I can see how he didnt live up to early expectations. However when you sit back and take a look at him he isnt as talented as even many of the better non slam winners. His strokes are all work, they dont come natural. He is a very hard worker who is very determined and competes 100%. Other than staying with Brad Gilbert possibly I dont see anything he could have done differently to do any better than he has. He played the tennis of his life at Wimbledon last year and still ended up a few points short. It is too bad that match didnt go his way which it easily could have, but he couldnt have done anymore either I dont think. I think leaving Brad was a big mistake. It was a knee jerk reaction to not winning a slam in 2004. He was never a future 10+ slam winner who was going to win atleast 1 slam every year though, so he should have been a realist and not gone a different direction just based on that. He played great tennis in 2004 and lost a tough Wimbledon final to Federer and ran into an on fire Safin and Johansson in the quarters of the two hard court slams. He may have been able to win a few more slams staying with Gilbert. 2003 and 2004 is when his game looked the best by far.

Yes!

;)

ETA: Some interesting first round matchups in Cinci & Toronto: Ivanovic/Azarenka, Sharapova/Kuznetsova, Ferrer/Nalbandian to name a few....

Sveta-Aga final. I like this final; good to see two decent players finally having some results. As well as Wozniacki, I'm warming to Radwanska. How odd.

Still intrigued about Coco! :sekret:

ETA: Oops I missed oleada's post re: Coco further up, sorry! She sounds likea a bit of a nightmare to be honest, judging by that. Also... a bit sad.

Wozniacki won the tournament in Copenhagen; good for her!:D

Svetlana is KILLING me. She was playing so well, dictating play, hitting winners everywhere and then the epic choke.
