And on contrary to what everyone else is saying and thinking, Spain was able to win that game against Germany because Germany was scared like hell. If Germany had played like they had against Argentina, Australia and England, Spain wouldn't have been where they are tonight. Yet the Germans had doubts and they allowed Spain to have as much ball possession as they did. They allowed Spain to play the game they wanted. Spain wasn't playing any different from how they were playing in any of the other games they've played. But Germany did play different. They played worse. And that's why Spain could win.

To me, the best is not always who wins. Especially not in sports like soccer where so many other factors are factoring into the outcome.
The skater who wins is not always the best skater. I compare that entire World Cup to a splatfestival in figure skating when those with the fewest falls win. Spain was that team but they benefited from mistakes others made.

That is my opinion anyway and how I see it.

And some of the reason Germany didn't play like the did in the other games was because the Spanish defense played great. Look, the only question is if Muller would have made a difference, but who knows? If we want to start getting into things like that, we could point out that Torres has been dealing with injuries all World Cup long. Spain's been the best team for awhile, and it was up to the Germans to beat them. Maybe they will at the next Euros.

I must say that Paul the Octopus is really quite adorable, and maybe the Octopus should become the official mascot of Football.

Just a few final thoughts...

1) It is my hope that Canada makes it to the 2014 WC. If New Zealand can do it why not us?! :blocjudge

2) I did not know until yesterday that there were so many fans of Spain in Toronto.

3) Germany is also the 2009 U-17 champions so their future is extremely bright.

4) Thank you to South Africa for a wonderful tournament and to Spain for proving me wrong about them. I said at the start that there is no way Spain is going to win because I have heard that so many times before. I am most happy to have been proven wrong. :D

5) I say Paul the octopus deserves a big hug but I'm not sure how you go about hugging an octopus.

6) I think if Russia wants to make it back to the WC they have to find a way to get Kurban Berdyev, pray beads and all, to become manager of the national team. Not sure Advocaat is the right man for the job.

7) Thanks to his wonderful proformance in this WC Casillas could as yet achieve the title of best ever goalkeeper. A title currently held by Lev Yashin (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lev_Yashin) of the USSR/Russia.

Glad Spain won. :cheer: the spanish commentator was totally  worthy when he announce the goal , and understandably so. Overall a very deserving team. I want to cry wuzrobbed because living in the neighbour country doesn't give me a team that good looking even if our ascendants are pretty much the same... not fair at all.
Casillas does look a bit like Joubert. ;)

But you have Cristiano Ronaldo :psoty: !!

PML is true Casillas looks a lot like Joubert

Muchos alchohol to all of Spain! :40beers:

Alcohol for everyone! Spain is like an immense Benidorm party

:cheer2:Congrats to Spain:cheer2:

I hope that you don't have to work tomorrow :nopryde:

:cheer::cheer::cheer:

In fact I had to work, and had even hearings, so I came home relatively earlier, but barely slept 4:30 hours, anyway was a great and no problematic night, although I didn´t attend the fountain where the youngest were bathing  people were very happy everywhere

I suspect the entire country will be partying late into the night and that many people will be calling into work tomorrow - and I don't think anyone will care

You suspected well  As I was earlier I got sport press that got completely sell off in the earlier morning

Paul! :cheer2:
He's the only reason why I even bothered

sweetsparkie, congrats! I wonder if the Spaniards will finish celebrating till I get there.
Today in Madrid (http://pics.livejournal.com/drugoi/pic/01077xb8.jpg)

I was really afraid the match would be decided with penalties :(, so much suffering, but all Spanish (and 90% Irish ;) ) supporters finally screamed together the goal
