Did you all know that if Germany doesn't make it to the finals, it will be the first World Cup final without any of the usual big four playing? Brazil, Argentina, Germany, Italy.

I fear for Paul's safety...

Little comfort for German fans: The only match Paul had wrong was at Euros 2008, where he predicted
Germany over Spain in the final! :D

Maybe he doesn't know there's more to Spain than Mallorca and figures what's the difference anyway? :D

I don't like all that discussion over who's going to be team captain of Germany after Worlds. Why do they have to discuss that now? How stupid can they be?

But honestly, there is a small part of me that likes to remember those times when we crashed out in the first round of Euros (2000 and 2004) or barely made the Quarterfinals of the World Cup (1998). It's just so much more relaxing. Those days I could just lean back, relax and enjoy the tournament, enjoy the football, cheer 10 minutes for this team, then 10 minutes for that team...

As an Italian, that's how I feel about this World Cup. :P I'm really enjoying watching Germany... your guys rock. :)

Basically he feels like he owns them one.

... or maybe we all interpreted Paul wrong this time; what he's really trying to tell us
that Germany will wrap their legs around Spain and devour them like an huge
monster-octopus a tiny, sweet mussel ... ;)

Do you know it would actually make more sense if all his picks were interpreted this way?

This article confirms what we've been talking about: Bayern chiefs lay down law to federation over Lw (http://news.yahoo.com/s/afp/20100706/sp_soccer_afp/fblwc2010gerloewbayern;_ylt=AgRme2QNakzvmuPmetGk1_ d2yLQF;_ylu=X3oDMTJ0Mml1NWU0BGFzc2V0A2FmcC8yMDEwMD cwNi9mYmx3YzIwMTBnZXJsb2V3YmF5ZXJuBHBvcwM3BHNlYwN5 bl9wYWdpbmF0ZV9zdW1tYXJ5X2xpc3QEc2xrA2JheWVybmNoaW Vmcw--)

Hoeness, the Bayern President, for his part said he hoped the federation would extend the contracts of all the coaching staff even general manager and Euro '96 winning striker Oliver Bierhoff, who is not popular with the executive directors.
"The DFB should extend the contracts of all the team who have proved that they operate really well together," said Hoeness.
