Just as an observer currently in Europe....Germans are delerious and parading in the street today. Literally; I'm in Vienna and a bunch of Germans organized an impromptu parade after the match. I was in Germany last week at a conference and the organizers would flash the World Cup scores on the overhead in between speakers. (We couldn't believe they actually scheduled symposia during one of Germany's games, but that's science nerds for you.) And the flags are totally out in Germany, which occurs only during the world cup. Apparently, Germans don't like to be ostentatious about national pride, given what happened the last time. But a little flag waving is in ordnung, given the spanking they handed Argentina.

I know - it was as if Spain were trying to miss then  - but good by Villa - in the right place for a striker - right in front of goal!!

Come on Spain!!

My host mom in Berlin said the 2006 World Cup was good for Germany in that sense, because it made them unafraid to do show some national pride. Again I was there for Euro 2008, and I wasn't expecting to see flags all over because I'd read the same. But they were there.

I wouldn´t say that the second part has been good, but there was a lot of fun even if sometimes in a  way:lol:

What a crazy and thrilling game!! Good thing the Spanish coach finally had the good sense to switch Torres.

Missing PK seems to be the feature of these QFs.

BTW, is it just me or these two goalies from ESP and PAR look the same?

I always feel for the team, and specifically the player, who misses a penalty and goes on to lose.

(((Paraguay)))

Well done Spain; about time they reached the semis.
