I was in Berlin during Euros in 2008; it was nuts then. Can't imagine what it's like now!
Wish I were there. ;)

The Germans were also very good looking - I didn't notice that much last Sunday with my boys being sent home - and was able to admire their potential today. Then one of the commentators mentioned that several of the team was from the under 21 winning team of last year - and that made me feel like a dirty old lady as I'm old enough to be their Mother - but that feeling didn't last long :swoon:

I'm a bit worried about Germany though in the next match with Mueller gone, but I really liked the game. I'm finding out that I like football.

DEUTSCHLAND :cheer2:
What a team! They truly work as a team and had some awesome play. Schweinsteiger was absolutely outstanding today :cheer: He was the brains and motor of the team.
Ballack's injury has been Schweinsteiger and Germany's blessing. He has blossomed - awesome to see!!

This was Müller's ultimate revenge against Maradona, who thought Muller was a ball boy and made him leave the press conference back in March.

I thought cards were forgiven after the quarterfinals?
I didn't see anyone respond to this. Cards are forgiven in the sense that if you have one card through the quarterfinals, you will not carry it into the semifinal and, with a yellow card in a semi, miss the final. However, if you have get your second yellow card in the quarterfinal match, you will miss the semifinal.

Frankly, I understand why they changed the rule this WC. It stunk that players who received a second yellow in the round of 16/quarterfinals/semifinals would miss the finals (after yellow cards were forgiven after the group stage), but I think FIFA really miscalculated with the change. Under the current rules, two yellow cards in five games would knock a player out of the semifinals. That just seems like too many games. IIRC, the rule traditionally was simply two yellow cards in successive games.

Why not make it two in group stage and two in the round of 16/quarterfinals, with any single yellow cards being forgiven before the semifinals? Or make it three yellow cards in the five games leading into the semis.

Thanks for the detailed response, reckless.

I called my brother who lives in Bremen. I couldn't hear a thing due to the street noise; they were certainly celebrating hard

You're definitely not the only one. There are lots of eye candies on the German team. Thomas Muller is totally swoon worthy. :swoon: I absolutely love the mischievous wink to the camera he gave. The boy is a superstah in the making! :respec:

LOL we have a company pool going on with a dozen people or so, you have to guess the exact score in each match to win. For the last 8 matches, only two games have people guessed the right score!!

Congrats to Germany they were awesome!

With all the South American Hoo-rahs going into the elimination rounds, Europeans are bringing it!

Ha, I rang some friends in Berlin; they were ALL drunk, and even if they weren't I still wouldn't have been able to hear/understand them.

I hope that the final is Netherlands vs Spain, with either side winning would be good for me.

The Socceroos were my team, and they bowed out early.
