This has been such a progressive meltdown for Brazil.

I'm sick of them being favorites all the time and then coming up with pretty unspectacular football.

Agreed.
We did not play well on this WC. (actually we haven't been for some time now...) Brazil is considered the favourite simply beacuse it's Brazil.

I don't think Felipe Melo is in danger of becoming the next Escobar, but he'll pretty much have to take some "vacation" from football: I wouldn't exactly call him a commodity now...

Julio Cesar's press conference: he was crying, poor thing. I wouldn't mind giving some consolation to him...
And he's not our first great goalie: Taffarel always cought it when it mattered (penalty kicks, specially)

People were saying though that the ball would have likely gone in even without Melo, if its any consolation. I would hope that they don't make Melo a scapegoat, because it seemed to me the failure was the whole Brazilian team, not just one player. It felt like in the second half that the Dutch were attacking, attacking, attacking, and the Brazilians not so much.

It's hard to know. Julio Cesar seemed to completely misplay the ball. On the other hand, he might have gotten higher and farther out if he had not crashed into Melo.

wheeeeeeeeeeeeheeeeeeeeeeeeheeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!! :cheer2:

the play was once again not spectacular, and we were very lucky at times but...hmmm....I don't care :D :D :D :D :cheer2: it was like 36degrees celcius here, but it did not keep me from jumping up and down, dancing and screaming my lungs out when the final whistle was finally there. Longest 22 minutes of this world cup (till now) for me for sure. :D

still can't believe this outcome, especially since (I must admit) there were defenitely moments in the first half when I thought it was all over....

HOOOLLLAANDD!!!! :D
we zijn er weer bij en dat is priiiima... VIIIIVAAA HOLLANDIA! :respec:

30 minutes into the game, Ghana all of a sudden woke up. Before that it seemed like the expectations of an entire continent were weighing them down. They've had a few nice chances now.

There is a neighbor lady who seems to have an orgasm every time Uruguay has a chance. It is slightly amusing.

Ghana! :cheer:

And a much smaller cheer, now that it's obvious that this is a "match", to myself for forgetting to put down my planned $1 million vWager on Uruguay.

Our commentators said the stadium just exploded when Ghana scored. It was impossible for them to sit down.

And Dunga is officially no more (http://www1.folha.uol.com.br/esporte/760869-dunga-confirma-saida-da-selecao-e-absolve-felipe-melo-de-culpa.shtml)! We want Felipćo (Scolari) back!!

And although I'm kinda cheering for Uruguay on this one, how cool it would be if Ghana got to semis ??
