The new Italian pair Elena Yarkhunova & Matteo Guarise will leave with their coach Oleg Vassiliev next week and will be training in Chicago for a month. They also plan to debut their programs at 2010 Indy Challenge and Skate Detroit in late July :)

Interesting. They must have made good progress if they want to compete already this summer.

Thanks for the heads up! FYI, we already have event threads started in the Kiss and Cry forum for both competitions :):
Skate Detroit is July 21-24 in Bloomfield Hills, MI.
Indy Pairs Challenge is July 29-August 1 in Indianapolis, IN.

They've already reached a good level and it's important for them to test themselves in competitions :)

Wow he's so handsome!

He's very lucky to be able to do modelling, that will surely help him with the costs of training with Vasiliev and living abroad.

Meh! Great torso but his face isn't anything special, imo. But then I'm probably outside the magazine's target demographic.

Very lean muscles. He will have to bulk up though to be a top pair skater.

He was a top roller pair skater able to perform difficult lifts with a partner who was definitely heavier than Elena, so I guess he shouldn't have much troubles with it :)

And don't forget the skates: rollers are waaay heavier than ice skates

Will be cheering for them, and hopefully we'll get videos??

I managed to miss their training today because I arrived @ the rink when they had already finished and dance was starting, but I can vouch for Matteo being - apart from really cute - a real nice and funny guy, and very approachable too. We were in the same group dinner a couple of nights ago and he was really, really fun to chat to.

Now, when we start building a nice site with LOTS of pics?:D
