How come some alternates get 2 assignemnts, but those, who have at least earned one won't get a second before them? I understand that this is the rule and all, but still seems unfair to Glebova or Dobbs or whoever.

OTOH I might be in minority here, but I'm really happy for both freshly added Chinese ladies. Bingwa might finally deliver, and Qiuying was most impressive a year ago in JGP HUN for a Chinese lady.

More updates today:

Ladies (http://isu.sportcentric.net/db//files/serve.php?id=2024)
Mae Berenice Meite and Lena Marrocco (both FRA) have filled the two French TBA spots at TEB.

This is the second assignment for both. Marrocco is also scheduled for NHK and Meite for Skate America.

Yu-Na Kim's Rostelecom Cup spot remains unfilled.

ETA: I edited the ladies GP list I posted yesterday (http://www.fsuniverse.net/forum/showthread.php?p=2864208&postcount=501) to reflect the assignment of the FRA TBAs today.

Surprised seeing Alexe garner SA for the 2nd consecutive season after a rough 09-10. She must have really impressed in the Springs. I wish her well!

Simply there's no other choice. I think Gilles will do better than Dobbs anyway. The new rules are fairly advantageous for Gilles but not for Dobbs.

Dobbs beat Gilles by a substantial margin at both nationals and 4CC though.

Yeah, but Dobbs is in Cup of China the week before. FYI, there is a nine-hour time difference between Beijing and Portland; and so it is probably "wise" that Dobbs did not get the SA assignment.

Dobbs has only 3S and 3T. That won't cut anything in the senior GP. I hope she enjoys one and only chance of her life.

On the part of USFA, it's more realistic to expect "Gilles with moderate consistency" than "Dobbs with the lutz and flip."

:( .She has 3f now too, and 3lo. She's been working very hard on those jumps this summer and has said the plan is to include the 3f in her SP and attempt two of them in her FS. And you never know what will happen, Lepisto usually just does 3t, 3s, 3lo in her programs and she's won all sorts of medals recently. Alexe may have all the triples but she gets dinged for edge calls and usually has problems with her jumps anyways, Amanda with her 3t and 3s managed to earn higher TES than Alexe at back to back competitions last year because she landed those jumps and completed them nicely. I wouldn't be surprised if she placed quite well at CoC and gets GP assignments next season as well.

What is going on with Angela Maxwell? Is she done for good?

To date, there hasn't been any sort of official announcement from her or USFS. All that's known at the moment is that she is not competing this season (her name was removed months ago from both the Team C funding envelope and the International Selection Pool).

French Fed appears to have given up their hopes on Gwendoline...not that I'm surprised...allez Lena and Mae!

3S and 3T with + GOE will beat out more difficult jumps constantly marred by errors. Also, her skating skills, choreography, and interpretation are surely better. She has reportedly done 3F in nonqualifying competitions this past summer, so she will likely include that too. Even the world bronze medalist has never attempted that jump. :shuffle:

I think it's really harsh to say that CoC is her "one and only chance." She was 6th at Nationals last year, and she is definitely capable of fulfilling that again. She could even move up! I see her as a force for years to come.

The French Fed actually had hopes for Gwendoline? I know that sounds mean, but her competitive record is rather dismal.

Dobbs is skating pairs because she herself is not sure about the future as a single skater isn't it?

I've calculated some scores of 2010 US nationals using new rules . Downgrades('<') are treated as UR. Dobbs' 2A-2A-SEQ is changed to a 2A-2T.

5th Gao 152.5 (52.6+99.9) originally 156.5 two errors in total
6th Liang 147.6 (50.3+97.2) originally 147.7 three errors in total
7th Dobbs 144.1 (50.9+93.2) originally 150.7 two errors in total
8th Gilles 142.2 (48.4+93.9) originally 143.3 four errors in total

There's no doubt Dobbs will face tough times in this season... and better lucks for Gilles.

Is she really any more certain about the future as a pair skater? After all, she's been getting international assignments in singles, not pairs. I thought she's doing both because she finds it fun and thinks she can handle it for the time being. If she lands the 3F more consistently this season, I think she will do fine, and she probably isn't any less competitive than Gilles.
