As is being discussed in another thread, Yu-Na has withdrawn from the Grand Prix. This shakes things up a little. We might even see 2 U.S. ladies in the Final.

I really hope Yuna's spots go to Cheltzie and Min-Jung!

I would have preferred to see Cheltzie do the JGP and make the final but then with all the young Russians the competition is going to be extremely fierce and Australia only has two spots in any case.

Great news on the dance roster as well.

Alessandrini/Vaturi ITA replace the Zaretskis at Skate America to get their second assignment (first assignment is at Skate Canada).

Mysliveckova/Novak CZE get a first assignment at Rostelecom Cup replacing Zadorozhniuk/Verbillo UKR who have split/retired.

Grant Hochstein (USA) with his first GP assignment replaces Johnny Weir (USA) at Skate Canada, and Kelemen (ROU) with his first GP assignment replaces Weir at TEB.

As haribobo mentioned, Alexandr Kazakov (BLR) has been removed from his only GP assignment (TEB), so there is an open slot at TEB in addition to the French TBA.

Switch Canada with America in your above statement and that will make it correct. :)

Also, Rubleva/Shefer got Zaretski's NHK slot.

Who do you think will get the vacant COR spots for Russia?
I think one spot will go to Borodulin.
The other one...Menshov? One of the Uspenski brothers?

HisWeirness
07-20-2010, 05:18 PM
I think that one of the Rostelecom Cup spots will go to Borodulin if the Russian Fed. is unable to secure him an assignment at CoC, SA, or TEB.

The same strategy is being used by the French Fed to try to get Amodio assigned to CoC, SA, or Rostelecom Cup instead of TEB.

Maybe they could make a trade (Borodulin to TEB and Amodio to RUS), and both FRA and RUS Feds would still get to have 1 TBA of their own. ;)

Unless Tretiakov shows impressive Senior B results (like last year at Nebelhorn), RUS will probably give the vacant spot(s) to another non-JGP eligible senior man. Menshov is the top finisher at 2010 Russian Nationals that does not have a Senior GP assignment yet. The Russian Fed may be waiting for monitoring/Russian Cup/Senior B results before making their choice.

I don't understand why no host has picked Amodio yet (apart from France who will pick him if no one else does). He is such an amazing skater and would be an asset to every Grand Prix and even a reason for some die hard fans to go there.

Aww, does that Mean Kazakov is retiring ? a withdrawal soo early in the season can only mean that or a season-ending injury :(. Im gonna miss his cute moments in the K&C with Urmanov..

It was about time Hochstein gets an assigment. And yay for MysliveckovaNovak.. Im fearing for the status of MalloryRand, though.

And LOL at TEB with picking really obscure euro skaters.. that's cool:rollin:

Amodio & Borodulin are safe for a 2nd event as host picks but yeah its weird they weren't top priorities by the other federations.

Here are the links to the new GP rosters: Men (http://isu.sportcentric.net/db//files/serve.php?id=1952) Pairs (http://isu.sportcentric.net/db//files/serve.php?id=1953)

Kovalevski now has 2 GP assignments, RUS and FRA, which are in consecutive weeks, but not that far apart time/travel-wise.

Zhang/Wang also got their second GP assignment, so they are competing back-to-back at NHK and then Skate Canada.
