There are a very limited number of GP spots, limited more by the limit of 3 skaters per discipline per country per event (for countries with deep fields) and limited again by the way skaters qualify for the GP. I don't think you can read "dumpage" or anything like that into a team not getting an event or a second event, especially any new senior skater/team that did not medal at the JGPF or JW (which guarantees them an event) and any old-senior skater/team that did not guarantee themselves an event. There is just too much demand and too little supply.

Frankly, if I were a Zar and had to stand PapaBoria and his ways I would probably retire much earlier.

Yes, before he has their head, literally this time .

Do the Zaretskis have college degrees and if not, do they intend to study?
Am not sure. I would say `no' to both, but then they participated the Universitiade on some grounds...

Ziggy, you posted that the Kerrs have not made an official announcement about their plans for next season. Do you know if they are currently training and preparing programs with Platov while they make a decision?

Nope no idea. All I know is that they were hanging on and not decided about retirement yet from what other people were reporting on FSU.

An article in Maariv (http://www.nrg.co.il/online/3/ART2/119/917.html)

In a couple of words:

Zaretskis are retiring and announced their decision to the IIF.

But PapaBoria was not able to relay that message to the ISU so they aren't chosen for the GP?

And I guess Scali has managed to persuade Faiella that starting a family can wait.

By the look of her last season, he has managed to persuade that starting a family can be given up at all :yikes:

It will be such a :drama: battle for the TBA RUS spot between Rubleva/Shefer, Gorshkova/Butikov and Riazanova/Tkachenko.

Rubleva/Shefer have retired, so have the Zars. And most of other assignments.
I expect the similarity between the original list and the actual one, to be only very slight.

They've posted on their website that the retirement rumour was not true (Rubleva/Shefer that is).

HisWeirness to add to your above list, Copely/Stagniunas have now split and he's searching for a new partner after silly Khoklova has turned him down.

Plushenko has said after the May surgery he will skip next season 100%, no speculation there. Why he is on the list I dunno, I thought Pissev would know it by now..couldnt they put another TBA?
!
I have seen lots of two TBA's. So they could have absolutely put two TBA. So it looks like Gachinsky is a defnite and then Borodulin because he has only one other assignment and I know last year they put Treytakov because he did great at a senior B so maybe they will see if there is a another Treytakov situaion and there be a surprise performance by a Russian male and them put them in the Grand Prix of Russia. Maybe Plushenkos withdrawl papers are not in yet or were never given or you know Yana put his name in LOL LOL.

Will they be ready that early though? He first has to learn ice dancing. :shuffle:

Eislauffan posted in another thread that Yana told her they would try to show something at their national championships. She didn't mention the GP.

  I enjoy this post very much.

Lanna, thank you for being a sane voice- I totally agree that some are getting all worked up about "I can't believe such and such are being dumped by their fed this way!" - occasionally this is kind of the case (would it really kill USFS to invite Hochstein to SA right off the bat after his great last season? Who else is close to being as deserving if Messing is going back to JGP? Hopefully Liberty and/or Skate Detroit will solve this issue once and for all) but a lot of times there are just too few spots to do anything about anything. Especially in men this year. So far, only Lysacek, Lambiel, Ponsero, Bradley, and possibly Plushenko seem to be taking time off/retiring. That's a lot of other guys fighting for spots! And of course, it really would help to know if teams like HM/C are still even competing before calling them robbed....

Has Caroline Zhang done anything to improve her jump technique? Coaching change and/or consulting with a technical expert? If not, I really don't want to watch her decline go further this year. It was torture to watch her last year. Everything looked so labored and imprecise.

A better place to post your questions may be on page 22 of the ongoing Caroline Zhang thread in the Trash Can forum ;): http://www.fsuniverse.net/forum/showthread.php?t=72595&page=22
