Don't cry too hard for Italy, because they have some fantastic young talent coming up and chances are Italy will be back in full force come 2012 Euros. Some of the young Italians to look out for includes Inter-Milan team mates Davide Senton, and Mario Balotelli, and US born Giuseppe Rossi. I am gonna keep track of these guys and see if can put Italy back together. :respec:

Agreed - but they are going to be crucified when they go home after this performance. They should have had some of the young blood in this squad to help get some of them experience - and the press back in Italy said that before the WC started - the squad was deemed too old and they have payed for that decision.

OK so who next can be upset - Spain maybe?

Fortunately the World Cup is not a beauty contest ... :P ;)
It doesn't really seem to be a football talent contest either :shuffle:

Italy had better be careful going home after what happened in 1966 but at least they aren't going back to Saddam Hussein's Iraq :

Noooo!

Seriously I think I'm pretty much rooting for either Spain or the Netherlands to take it all, they're both overdue and a new winner would be nice. The way the top teams have played, it would seem to be possible this time around...

If you think that is bad, you should read what happened during the final of the 1950 WC in the Maracana Stadium in Rio. It was the silent World Cup final after Brazil lost in the final to Uruguay the entire stadium of nearly 200,000 was silent. The Brazilian keeper at the time, Moacyr Barbosa, was blamed for the defeat which ruined both his career and life. I shudder to think what will happen to Brazil's team if they lose at home in 2014. That is why I would prefer if Argentina won this one because it is hard for me to see Brazil losing at home.

Spain is one of the top teams... and so are the Netherlands :P
So far, only Italy and France are out and Spain has to watch its back so they won't follow. I don't hope so but they need to score and get the ball into the goal. They play beautifully yet that's, unfortunately, not enough...

(((Italia))) Some of the players (I can't tell who) are SOBBING. Poor, beautiful boys. they need some comfortin' ;) :P

Congrats to Slovakia and Paraguay!

Fabio Cannavaro had to pick Fabio Quagliarella up off the pitch. I guess that's why he's captain! So sad he had to end his NT career this way, but he did have a good one to look back on.:)

I have 3 channels that are showing this game - Norwegian, Swedish and Danish, whose commentators all are hoping Denmark will win this. I am not - I'm cheering for Japan - who scores again!!!
