North Korea :(
Norwegian TV just showed very interesting footage of the family of the North-Korean goal keeper while they were watching the match against Portugal live. They did actually show the whole 90 minutes and the dad said he thought the players would learn from this match and that they had nothing to be ashamed of. Let's see if the dear leader allows the North-Koreans to watch the final group match live.

I feel bad for the coach who took all the blame after the match. Why would he do that? Portugal were seriously good today and it was his players that weren't good enough. I hope he's not sent to some sort of concentration camp after this. :(

^I know what you mean. I know Olympic champs (for example) are massively reverred (and rewarded) in North Korea. I wonder what happens to ...um...less successful athletes? Maybe half the team will try and flee before the flight home!

Perhaps some of the team members will get offers to play outside North Korea and will be able to leave legally. If they flee their families could possibly suffer retaliation.

The North Korean minister for finance was sentenced to death for doing a bad job. :shuffle:

Some of the French team may boycott their game against South Africa. I say they should jusr forfeit the match and go home now. Bunch of babies.

Ok, I thought this is a joke, but are you guys serious when you say some should flee the country or else they'll be punished? and if people flee their families will get punished? I mean I know things are bad over there, but I'd think the most the government would do is reduce/cut funding...

What do you know, South Africa might not be the first host nation not the make the round of 16 after all

If anything, THEY should flee their country :P. I miss the good ol' head-butting glorious days of the French team :shuffle:

I personally do not think they will defect, and no one knows what sort of reception will be waiting for them. SOme of the other coaches have said that certain North Koreans player would not be out of place playing in Europe. So hopefully this exposure will allow them the chance to play aboard and escape that way.

I'm portuguese but I'm sad for the North Korea Team. :( I really hope they have a good (or a not so bad) reception there...

for some reason I can't feel happy for Portugal... :shuffle: I mean they were wonderful out there, but something tells me the N.K team is going to have a very difficult time back home :yikes:

And here I was joking earlier about how France might not show up for the game tomorrow... :shuffle:

This is beyond ridiculous. To think they're supposed to be grown ups and are paid what they are paid... Though I have to admit, it's providing some great entertainment :P

It should be an honour to represent your country at a tournament where only a select few countries may participate. It is NOT the time to be acting like spoiled brats. Disagreements occur, but they should not be worked out in this manner.

Sad for the North Koreans. When they showed well against Brazil, i thought, ok, the glorious leader will be happy with them and they will all be ok...with that humiliation, i"m not so sure either. Hope they concentrate on the great showing against Brazil instead.

Maybe if you were dealing with a semi-rational leader/government.

Fair enough, but I mean has something similar to this ever happen in the past? there must be if so many people automatically assume those atheletes might be in trouble. Or else it's a pretty wild assumption if all it's based on is that the leader/government are asshats

They are maybe not in a hurry to come back home, as they won't be welcomed with flowers. :shuffle:
South Africa is a sweet place to be compared to the roller-coaster they will go through when they come home. That's gonna be a bloodshed (Domenech should find a cave somewhere, on a desert island). It already is. They just don't know how much yet.
Anyway, the trouble within the World Cup should end today. Wheee !
