The IVC guy ran into Kaka, who slightly raised his arm, and perhaps brushed the other guy in the chest. So why the IVC guy fell to the floor, clutching his face and writhing in agony is beyond me. As they said on the BBC, he may actually get into trouble himself for that, because he basically cheated.

Otherwise, yes, Brazil were fab.

Some of the "fluff" moments on the BBC, focusing on apartheid and the history of South Africa, are heart-breaking. :wuzrobbed

Normally, I'm a France supporter but this particular crop of players is a disgrace. As for today's incident, let me paraphrase something Andy Roddick told one of his poopnents once - they are not that good to be that cocky. :duh:

Sorry, but that typo is just

More scandal with the French team. Their team apparently walked off the field today and did not return to practice. So the drama continues...

I've just seen the footage. All very :drama:

Oh if only Ireland had gone nothing like that would have happened. :shuffle:

The whole "I'm so hurt, look at me, I'm covering my face so you can't see my pain!!" was all over that game. These teams should really send their players to theater camp over the summer, since sometimes it seems like it'll get them more than actual soccer skills.

That Kaka red card was riddiculous. Some of the refereeing at this cup has been a bit questionable at best.

I had to go to work so missed the 2nd half of the Italy-NZ game and all of the Brazil-Ivory Coast game but it sounds as if I missed some fireworks !! I did check out the "foul" that got Kaka sent off however and it was beyond silly - the ref needs to be spoken to regarding that decision!!

That is always an issue at the World Cup - some refs are good but others just lose control, make stupid decisions and go card happy. I really think an instant replay of sorts needs to be considered - even though I am loathed to do that as it can slow a match down too much and the game could lose some of its fluidity. However as TV replays fouls, refs decisions etc ad-nauseum thus already showing the issues then it is something that may need to be considered.

Anyways congrats NZ for holding off Italy and nearly scoring in the closing minutes - the final game becomes a must win for italy - much like England's final game. And congrats to Brazil for advancing already.

That red card for Kaka was yet another terrible coaching decision in this World Cup. We have had quite a few of those so far. But on the up side Brazil has already qualified and were most likely to rest their best players during the last group stage match anyway. But then again if such acting could get the best players from the best teams successfully sent off, then we may just see more of it. I HATE the idea of instant replay but something needs to be done to discourage such over acting in the future. Especially during the World Cup. Poor Kaka.

Oh if only Ireland had gone nothing like that would have happened. :shuffle: It really sucks that such a ****ed up team with a ****ed coach and ****ed up attitude gets to go to the freakin World Cup and teams like Ireland who would enjoy it so much and have passionate fans have to stay at home.

Anyway, you can cheer for us this afternoon :) I'm so excited. I'm off work at 3.30 and go to a bar :cheer:

At the end of the 1st half it is 1-0 for Portugal, but North Korea is putting up quite the fight.

Here is yet another article about the effects of footie fever on the world. It says reckshaw drivers are painting their vehicles in the colours of their favourite teams. While university students wanted the term ended early in Bangladash so they could watch more matches. And in India people are glued to the tv sets. So much so that many did not even know a cricket match against arch rivals Pakistan was on. LOL Fans in Dhaka had a mini rioted after a power cut interupted the telecast of the Argentina versus Nigeria match. Us footie fans can get crazy sometimes... :shuffle:
