bah humbug :(
congrats, Swissies, I guess. :P
It's Spain in a World Cup :wall:
Upset of the tournament so far.

We've seen all the teams already, and Germany looked by far the best so far.

Well, Spain is in trouble now. :shuffle: According to the US commentators, nobody has won the World Cup after losing the opening game.

But again, they still have a good chance to make out of the group. With some luck, they may even be number 1 in the group. We will see. ;)

BTW, is it just me, or this World Cup has so far been much more exciting to watch than the last?

They did, but that doesn't say anything... I do think it's better to start slow and difficult and to grow in the tournement

as to today's match  Swiss win! what an upset!!
Spain totally should have scored, and they didn't...so yeah then (IMO) the unofficial rule in football, if you fail to score time after time after time, the other team will do so!:shuffle:

 @ Spain. they look so good, but still lost. Suddenly, I really want them to do well now. they need to win this group otherwise they'll very likely face Brazil in the QF!

I do think it depends on the team. In 2002 Germany started with an 8-0 against Saudi Arabia and made the final, in 2006 with 4-2 against Costa Rica and made the semis - and in 1990 with 4-1 against Yugoslavia, where they became World Champion. On the other hand when we start lackluster (Euros 2000 and 2004 e.g.) it mostly ends up being a very lackluster tournament for Germany.

On the other hand Italy and France needed some time 4 years ago too, before they really got into the game (Italy starting with 1-1 against USA I think). So I am not too worried about those two teams. And France better brings it tomorrow :angryfire.

I have four big flags hanging, one for Germany, one for France, one for Spain and the Flag of the European Union. So far only Germany played really good entertaining football. I just hope that it gets more entertaining now.

LOL, what a disaster for Spain even if they always start bad at World Cup, now in the best case is surely going to be 2nd of the group and that probably means Brazil and a ticket back home

Anyway I enjoy the fact that Zapatero Government chose today to make public finally its work contract law that makes cheaper to fire workers. It was said that it was highly suspicious they decided to make so a Wednesday and when people will be watching a football match. But it has been a shoot in the foot. Tomorrow press will be :drama: football and  to the Government. They deserved it :EVILLE:

And Congratulations Switzerland :40beers: this win is a great step for them to move up to next rounds

Thanks Sweets. The plan was to get 5 points. The win was certainly not planned against Spain though!
I doubt Brazil means a ticket home. Spain is still very dangerous. Our keeper was just great today.

:lynch: Zapatero and co.
