I have to admit I find those vuvuzelas quite annoying as well.

I just saw a goal scored, and yet I wouldn't have known it without the commentators noting it. The drone of the vuvuzelas completely drowned out any crowd reaction. The volume doesn't seem to change either, no matter what is happening on the field.

The thing that happen when you live in a country that breathes football:
Tomorrow's match between Brazil and N. Korea happens at 3:30pm, local time. Almost every company/school will release its employees/students from 3 to 5:30. Including the north american company I work at. The unfortunate ones that will have to stay on site will be able to watch the match on a humongous screen set up on the cafeteria.

Wheeeeeeeee Italia, in bocca al lupo! :cheer: There's nothing I don't love about Italy :P, so that is the ultimate reason why I cheer for Gli Azzurri as well! :cheer2: Even though I have to confess their playing style is not really my favorite because of all the filming. :shuffle: I remember once playing against an Italian team in Italy and that was one of the most IRRITATING things ever - they were rolling around the field all the time even when I hadn't touched them at all!

It's old but... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_MbFBy9WtAo

Rooting against Italy is part of the big championships routine but them being so hot makes it always so hard.

Speaking of routine... I was shocked about Holland's uninspired playing style. I hope that is not their new game. They played like...the Germans used to play. Please no:wuzrobbed I understand that they want to win finally but please don't sacrifice the beautiful gameplay!

It's not, Dutch are complaining too and the players also say it wasn't their best game. We can do much better :)
But the points are in and it's better to start slowly. I do still remember Euros 2008 where we started out soooo well but by the time of the 1/4th finals.... it kind of died :shuffle:

:D :D Netherlands was completely into football too yesterday at 1.30PM. A lot of people took time off from work and if not people were watching at work or at school :D A lot of schools also let their students/kids go home at 1PM :D

and as for today I am soooo pissed I will miss part of the Ivory coast vs Portugal game because of school :drama:

I remember, too. NL looked invincible in the first game and then :slinkaway

I was just a little bit concerned because IIRC Bert van Marwijk has a more defensive approach to the game. Just hope for better games (but please not against Japan :P)

He is conservative. He likes to use the same players all the time, doesn't experiment much; consistency and stuff. So he put vd Vaart on Robben's place, but that's not really his position; it's more central. So anyway we were missing some depth and a real winger IMO... (because Kuyt on the other side doesn't really provide that either, he's a hard worker though, really valuable...personally I'm a fan of Kuyt :P ) When Elia came in it was already much better... but I don't think van Marwijk will start with him for the Japan game, but it's good to have him as a sub.

and I hope Robben will be fit when things will really count ;)

And for the first time the crowd manages to be louder than the vuvuzelas!!
Never underestimate the brazilian crowd's ability to make noise....
