Chan's season begins at the William G. Mennen Sports Arena in Morristown, N.J., where he will train for a week and has agreed to guest teach a freestyle clinic to local skaters at the Morris County Park Commission, County of Morris facility...........

........Next up for Chan is the Liberty Figure Skating Competition in Aston, Pa., in July. He will unveil a new short and revamped long program with a view to ISU rule changes. Chan continues to train with Christy Krall in Colorado Springs and longtime choreographer Lori Nichol in Toronto.

He is also applying to college for Fall 2011 - he mentions Stanford and the University of CO. And "institutions in Canada."

WOW! What a privilege for me...my daughter trains at the Ice House in Hackensack regularly, but I will definitely be enrolling her in the clinic at Mennen...only about a half hour away. What an opportunity!

Maybe Rachael can persuade him to go to Stanford and they could train together.

A friend also sent this to me. He's in NJ and skates in that area, so I'm guessing he'll be at the sports clinics.

Hope she has a fun learning experience! Feel free to share a tidbit or two here afterwards! ;)

So wait - anyone is allowed to watch him skate? Or only if you are a Mennen member or something? My parents live nearby; I would consider coming over.

Yes, that's what it looks like to me since these practice times were published/publicized on the rink's website. That doesn't guarantee he will be skating during those times, of course.

If anyone makes it over to watch one of these public practices, feel free to report back here! :)

I forget - is he still coached by Lori Nichol?

Why didn't we have anything that cool when I skated at Mennen? Alas. Is he being coached by anyone in particular while he's there or is he on his own?

Thanks! I'm so jealous - my parents live close to Mennen arena but I couldn't get over there this weekend. :(

Christy Krall in Colorado Springs and Nichol in Toronto.

This new article doesn't mention a coach in NJ: Chan's seminars a big hit with Tri-State area teens ( http://web.icenetwork.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20100621&content_id=11429492&vkey=ice_news)
He says he will debut his new short program at Liberty next month.

It was a great experience! Besides his technical expertise, Patrick was a really friendly guy and very approachable. He signed autographs too, as the picture shows. Overall, a nice afternoon.
