The televised coverage will be tomorrow on ESPN and ABC but according to the official site http://www.spellingbee.com/ the preliminaries will be streamed live today on ESPN3 - http://espn.go.com/espn3/
I love watching the spelling bee. I don't have any favorites this year. Maybe a Canadian and come through and win it this year.

Thanks for starting this! I love watching the Spelling Bee. Too bad I can't watch the Prelims today, but I'll defintiely be watching the final!

I wasn't able to watch it live either but it is available for replay - http://espn.go.com/espn3/player?id=6015&league=Spelling%20Bee&size=condensed
It will be something nice to watch while I'm working tonight.

Remember Kavya Shivashankar's little sister. She is now a contestant. Has all the same mannerisms. There are some very cute young ones here for the first time. I love watching the earlier rounds. They go a lot faster and they don't ring the awful bell.

Cool -- thanks, Sylvia. I'm following it.

Today's semi's are going much longer than usual - at least since I have been watching. We are an hour longer than in the past. I wonder if stopping in the middle of a round has any effect on the spellers or the outcome.

Looks like a bloodbath in Round 6.

I noticed last night that one of the spellers had Yu Na Kim listed as her favorite athlete.

They take a long time showing the words to the viewers after pronouncing it to the constestant (who has about two minutes to puzzle it out). It's not as if I'm playing along; I haven't even heard of 99% of these words. I had only heard of "mirin" today.

I've been watching this for too many years. I recognize words in the lower rounds that used to be on the championship list. I guess they are put in lower rounds because they are words that all/most of the competitors would have studied.

I love playing along -- it's half the fun (especially if you haven't heard of the word)!

That was pretty anti-climactic. ABC really had time for commercials. I hope they made lots of money.
Congratulations to Anamika.

I missed this, but I am seeing a local production of the 25th Annual Putnam Spelling Bee musical soon, looking forward to it. :)
