Daisuke performed the Amelie program in today's show. The music was the piano one.

Watching the program felt very strange because it is too normal if it was Stephane. Only it was not Stephane skating but Dai. It was as if watching Stephane skating, using Dai's body. (hope you know what I mean)

Even his spin looked better than only a few month ago :)

It is a quiet-yet-emotional type program and when it was finished I did not want to move and applause. I would want a long quiet pause after the program, like 10 seconds or more. It was that kind of program to me.

It must be fun to see how the program is developing as Dai skates it a number of times.

I understand. If I'm thinking of the right music, it's not the kind of music I would expect either of those guys to use. It's more like what I would expect from Johnny Weir in a competitive program. It's much more subdued than what these guys usually go for.

And I know what you mean by seeing Stephane skating, but not really. I sometimes have that reaction when Yuka Sato choreographs a program for someone. It's like seeing her skate, but not really.

The music was the piano one. There are several piano pieces in the soundtrack. Do you remember if it was:

Comptine d'un Autre Été (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wiJVSMFLZ6g)? (my favorite from the soundtrack :swoon: )

Or perhaps it was La Valse d'Amelie (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GWrxs2RDNRU)?

You're so lucky to have seen an early preview of his work for this season. :)

Thank you so much for that report, Midori. I am dying to see it now. It's a different style for Dai, but it sounds really good.

What a tribute to a program, and a program well skated. I can hardly wait to see Amelie.

Thanks, midori.

I think it was this piece.

There is a clip link in the show thread (http://www.fsuniverse.net/forum/showpost.php?p=2800741&postcount=16) and you can see the costume there.

Yes. I see exactly what you mean.

It's like Stephane continues on through Diasuke's body. :swoon::swoon::swoon:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PYn9M927twEOh my, this does not disappoint. :respec:

I agree with others that there are a lot of "Stéphane" movements in the program, and yet, the execution is very much classic Takahashi in the way he invests every inch of his body in the performance. I'm a little  by the objections to his costume, though - I think it's the perfect neutral canvas to allow us to focus solely on his performance.

Now, off to check this year's competition schedule to figure out how I can possibly get to see this in person live. :COP:

Nothing seemed to detract from the beauty of the music, the choreography and the skating in this piece. Dai seemed to float from one note to the next.

Wow.

In today's show I thought it was a bit de-Stephaned. I am not sure if it was because I got used to it or Dai did :)

Also the costume did not bother me as much as it did on Friday.
