The mascot for the London Olympics is going to be revealed tonight on The One Show on BBC1 from 7pm.

Sebastian Coe talks about it here (http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/othersports/olympics/london2012/7739705/London-2012-Olympic-mascots-made-from-Stadium-steel-suggests-Lord-Coe.html). I'm none the wiser. :shuffle:

Still whatever it is it can't be any worse than the 2012 logo. Or Izzy (http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/othersports/olympics/london2012/7737779/London-2012-Olympics-Atlantas-dismal-mascot-Izzy-represents-an-all-time-low.html). Can it? :scream:

No and no. The London 2012 logo was migraine inducing when inveiled (is it still as nauseating?), and Iggy was certainly a preamble to a relatively bad Games.

Izzy melted into a blue puddle of obscurity and was not invited to Atlanta’s 10th anniversary celebration.

What are they? :yikes:

I. Have. No. Idea.

The naming is good - Wenlock (after Much Wenlock which inspired de Coubertin to revive Games) and Mandeville (after Stoke Mandeville where the Paralympic movement began).

Monsters, Inc.? (www.universalsports.com/blogs/blog=theu.s.s.sport/postid=473786.html#2012+mascots+take+your+leader)

"a child-friendly creation formed from a drop of steel from the Olympic Stadium" ... erm, okay then, Mr. Coe.

oh my, these are terrible!! Why can't they do simple and cute? Mascottes need to be cute and fluffy and cuddly.
Like Berlino... or the 1980's Moscow mascot Chepuchka...

ETA: cheburaschka, not chepuchka.

:duh: You've GOT to be kidding me.

Milly... don't forget the raccoon mascot from Lake Placid '80.

Among the designs rejected at the start of an open pitch process were anthropomorphic pigeons, an animated tea pot and a Big Ben with arms and legs.

 You know it's bad when you're thinking, "hey, the anthropomorphic pigeons" thing wasn't a bad idea.

Weird as these eels look, I've got to :respec: that they are minus creepy/cutesy smiles, ala Izzy

They're almost like a totally uncute, abstract version of the Beijing mascots - but they certainly are voidy and that's something. I think they'll grown on me (hopefully not is some weird, futuristic devouring sort of way).

OMG they are worse than Izzy!

I like the logo design actually, but it would be better if it were more than one color.

All I can think of is 30 Rock and what Wesley said last week "I can't suffer through the London Olympics. We're not prepared, Liz! Did you see the Beijing opening ceremonies? We don't have control over our people like that."
