Novitsky ugly??? He is quite sexy!!!

I wouldn't say that Larinov is ugly either though. Ok, he may not be any handsome, but ugly that a bit too strong.

I find Maisuradze ugly. :( But then again, he jumps and skates well...

About B&L, I hope they get a new costume designer. Those costumes they had last year were ugly and kinda cheap looking. At the very least, stay the hell away from day-glo colors! Maybe try some jewel tones.
I thought I read on this board that they have little funding from the Russian Federation and struggle financially. This may explain the costumes.

But one advantage to K/S being injured, Z/Z being injured, and V/T not eligible for the GP, is that they will more than likely make the podium at a couple of events and even get to the GP Finals. This means prize money!

Wishing them a good season.

I haven't seen him yet...is he that ugly? .

In a word, No.

I really don't care for Yuri's look on the ice etc. I think it will held them back.

Do you really think his "look on the ice" will hold them back more than her splat-tacular jumps? I would think that a competant, safe and reliable partner is more important than a pinup boy who is as inconsistent as the weaker partner of the team, which would be Bazarova. Who is quite lovely. So perhaps good looks are not a positive decider of pair team fate...

If somebody is going to throw me 10 feet across the ice or skate around holding me up in the air with one hand, I'd rather them be a sturdy *truck driver* than a pretty boy who might get caught up admiring his reflection in the ice.

ITA

OTOH, if I were the weak partner and kept falling, I wouldn't mind a Sergei or an Anton picking me up. And if one of those times, I got injured, they could hug me real close too. Just sayin. :shuffle:

Speaking of Sergei Novitski; what is he up to these days and what are his future plans?

They should be able to do very well in the Grand Prix season because of the lack of good competition but unless they get really good, next season will be a problem.

They should make it to the GPF unless the American teams get really good. I think they might get 4-6th place.

I never said that he's ugly. And I wish that people wouldn't put those kind of words in my mouth. I don't think the guy is ugly at all. What I don't like his bodyline. And Sergei may have been a lot bigger than Katia and Yuri, but Sergei had a way nicer bodyline than Yuri does.

Watching them again, it wasn't as bad as I remember but I still feel that Vera has this lovely balletic look to her skating, and I think that would be showcased even more with a more balletic partner. It doesn't though at all mean that I think he's some weak partner or anything like that. More that Vera is never going to be a great jumper, so they might as well at the very least get her a partner that will compliment her balletic skating.

who knows maybe that could change Yuri will grow more etc. But I want to clarify, I never said he was ugly.

Off topic from Yuri Larionov, but Ekaterina Rubleva was working as an assistant technical specialist for the ice dance competition at the Moscow Open Championships.

Domnina doesn't take a part in any show cos she's deeply pregnant.

Guyz I don't know what you're thinking about calling Shabalin, Larionov, Novitzky, Maisuradze ugly. The only ugly man in figure skating I remember was Sergei Sakhnovsky (and maybe a couple of bold American pair skaters) but that's it. Especially shocked about Shabalin. Always thought he was a kind of hawt. Not in the Ken way of John Kerr and Bourzat, of course, but anyway very attractive by his intellectual and kind of aristocratic means (remember Colin Fert).

Here are some recent pics from Morozov's training camp in Latvia including several of B/L. Yuri looks much slimmer than last season and a little bit unshaved which makes him look a kind of hot. Enjoy http://picasaweb.google.com/112415506640651331219/ICESPY#

P.S. And this is untrue that they don't get enough funding from FFKR. They are fully sponsored by federation.
