Does Jerome speak Russian?

He has no problem in communicating with Maria in Russian, for he has been living in Russia for quite a few years so far. In my eyes he is a very nice and honest guy.

They weren't doing many tricks, so it's hard to gauge where he is now, but he has wonderful quality of movement.

Thanks for the link, angietang! I haven't seen Blanchard before. He has beautiful posture -- reminds me a little of Anton S. They look great together.

Looking forward to all these new pairs. :)

Maria & Jerome look really good together.

I wonder how their jumping is though.

And surely tension between M/B and V/T will be :watch:

Indeed!! cannot wait to see these teams compete against each other :D

although I definitely give my money to V/T, still think Maria has nothing on Tatiana, no wonder Maxim switched partners like that :P but well, who knows. it surely will be interesting to follow Russian pairs the next season :watch:

but do M/B have to wait a period as well to compete international?

No, because Jerome hasn't competed internationally in over a year already.

LOL. Compared to Maria, I can't see how superior Volosozhar is otherwise, except her jumps. I am looking forward to seeing how V/T could manage to sweep the world competitions in the years ahead.

Forgot to post this here earlier... Johnny Weir tweeted from the Moran Memorial club competition in Hackensack, New Jersey last night:

Ksenia [Makarova] was wonderful. First place, clean short program.

These pictures can't change my point. I don't think it is wise to extol Volosozhar to the skies by turning a blind eye to the good qualities in Maria's skating.

well, for me Tatiana is far more graceful on the ice, her posture and positions (for example in spins) are just :swoon: no other girl in pairs has ever captured my attention they way she did. Maria is a little like a block of wood in my eyes and I really hate her hand movements. I'm not saying she's not a good skater, though. I only think Volosozhar is exceptional and it's difficult to compete with that, even when you're a world-class skater :P

I think both newly formed pairs will be good. The main thing (potential problem for some) will be jumps and consistency, and I think there Maria is slightly behind others and Blanchard hasn't competed for a while. But if they all hit the jumps, the skating will be very good. they all seem to have good lines...

I agree with you that I prefer Tatiana over Maria. But that's only my personal preference. How skating works (or should work), the one who will win worlds may not necessarily be the most graceful, or most 'deserving', or most capable (in terms of having most skills or being able to do most difficult elements). The winner will be the one who can manage to get most points on that two programs together. That means the one who is able to deliver at those two days in their two programs. So even if Maria seems to you as a block of ice or wood or whatever, if she manages to keep control over her nerves and land her jumps (and hit all other elements) in those two programs, she will be crowned the world champion even if it was the only occassion she ever lands the jumps. :P
