Here's a Vera Bazarova/Yuri Larionov article: http://www.goldenskate.com/articles/2010/070410.shtml

Thanks Sylvia!
Wow I didn't know they were an off-ice couple as well.

B/L have great lifts-they really are impressive. When they said they looked up to Berezhnaya and Sakruilidze I thought of Berezhnaya's positive drug test. She does have to work on her jumps. I think that since Kavaguti and Smirnov are likely to remain the number one pair it might be bad news that the number two team of Murhkatova and Trankov has split up. Because now it might be kavagui and Smirnov as the number one team then Volosozhar/trankov as the number 2 and possibly Murhkatova/Blanchard as the number three team. That COULD maybe push B/L down to four unless she improves her jumps. But then maybe a new upcoming team could knock all them down and Murkatova/Blanchard may not work.

And you forgot to add that Gerbolt is also in pair now and she used to be reasonably solid with her jumps (I forgot who is her partner), then they have Iljuschetchkina and Maisuradze who used to be pretty good to if we don't count the last season (I think she was injured, wasn't she?)... It will be tough fight for the three spots in Russian pairs.

I did forget about Gerbolt who was pretty good with jumps! Probably forgot about her because I don't know her partner. I was thinking of I/M when I mentioned a couple that could possibly knock all the favorites down.

Gerboldt's pair partner is Alexander Enbert -- there's a link to photos back on page 10.

Six pretty good pairs. (In theory. We haven't seen some of them skating yet). That's impressive. It's a pity that to Europeans and Worlds they can send only max 3 pairs. How are going to feel those who have to stay home when they see that perhaps half of the field (maybe more) are much worse skaters?

What's up with Lutai now?
I know he got married and he and his wife are expecting a child and all but...is he still skating?
I'm just wondering because he's not in the pictures which were taken at Mishin's camp in Pinzolo, Italy.
There have been rumors he might switch countries and represent Bulgaria but would he also change coaches then?

Just wondering...

I think Lutai will either retire or skate for Bulgaria. He lives in Bulgaria now as far as I understand and is coaching there. He still plans to work with Mishin, but apparently not on a regular basis.
