:confused:Guys, I don't know all the ins and outs if the various oraganization's rules . Can Gorshkov retain his ISU job simultaneously ? Is that up for election this year ? If he can't , who is in the running ? ..I'm laughing , but it's a very hollow laugh.

There are a lot of speculations on this point in Russian skating community now. Some people say Gorshkov was elected as a president to free his position in ISU for Shekhovtsova, other people say there's another wise scenario. I don't know. We should wait and see.

 I'm getting better at this.. I was guessing Alla over on GS..but it all seems so outrageous ..I'm kind of hoping that it couldn't be. And who would be up for the judging committee then ? If the ISU cares about appearances at all, surely there must be some division of powers.

So far , looks like it was all PR , to mollify an upset Russian public, and maybe a few other reasons on the international front.... Duped again.

"another wise scenario" ? ..I shudder to think.

OH MY GOD! :scream:

That's the guy who was on the Ice Dance Technical Committee, right?

About what do you criticise the Ice Dance Technical Committee? They have done their job pretty well during Gorshkov's chairmanship IMO.

I don't mean the committee, I mean Gorshkov himself. From all accounts I've heard he's a total ass. :P

Anyone who stays in top administrative positions for so long will p*ss off many people. What matters is that the committee worked well under his chairmanship. So hopefully he'll do a good job with supervising the main team as well. Since I'm not going to marry him the rest doesn't worry me too much. :P

I am glad the cards fell as they did with Russian appointments. Piseev is the best one for the job so far, and will take care of Russian interests…… and his own, which is fine.

I am glad the Russians did not listen to the “opinion of the international fans and community” on which person to elect. Right or wrong, it was Russia’s decision, and the rest can like or dislike Piseev all they want….. talk is free, and nobody can tell Russia what to do.

Who has been Director, the person Piseev replaced in his new/old role?

It's a brand new position ..he is the first. Position created to have most of the same powers he had in his old position.

Where does that come from? My contacts with Gorshkov reveal him to be somewhat shy and always on an even keel.

That was with regards to him being an eville referee, IIRC but it was a long time ago.

However, I can see that others have a much better opinion of him that the people I spoke to and I hope that it's indeed true and that he will represent Russian skating well. :)
