I don't see Flatt being lower than 2nd unless she has to WD.

I can see her being 3rd if Nagasu and Czisny both skate well, but that's a big ask. She'll probably be top 2.

They would both need the skate of their lives, literally...

I mostly agree with you, but interesting that you have Caroline Zhang so high up in the ranks. Why is that?

I'm hoping she improves more. I thought Agnes was really going to medal but she's been falling all over the place. I think it's nerves cuz she can really jump and nats is going to be major pressure so I think she'll make more mistakes.

What about Ashley though? If Ashley brings the 3-3 and 2a-3t, I think if she skates well she'd be ahead of Rachael. Obviously the odds of Rachael skating clean are much higher than the odds for Ashley, but if Ashley happens to skate really well, I tend to think she'd be ahead of Rachael, especially if Rachael is still getting downgrades and battling with her injury and can't do the 3-3 come nationals.

The one thing I have noticed - the US judges don't seem to hold up skaters if they mess up in the SP, we saw that last year with Czisny and Zhang and the year before with Nagasu and Wagner. In the LP there's sometimes a little holding up of the favorites, but in the SP that doesn't seem to be the case, so a bad SP can really put any of these skaters out of the running if they make a major mistake.

OK.

Caroline did come back to medal at 4CCs last year after having nearly just as disastrous of a season, where I think she scored 105 pts. in the LP finally. But, she wasn't trying to change her basic skating either.

Agnes IMO will always have a cushion over CZ this season because of the SP even when she's a disaster in the LP.

I think where the US Ladiezzz stand right now is quite fascinating because of the wild card factor amongst all of them - Alissa's nerves, Mirai's nerves and ur's, Ashley the overachiever, Rachael the rock but battling tendonitis, newcomer Gao, etc.

She always wants everything too much and it causes her to make mistakes.

I think Olympic was speaking not so much of competition results or clean skating, but rather that Ashley sometimes takes on more than she seems able to handle. Her programs are packed with choreography and transitions, and she usually has a good amount of jumps in the second half of her long program. She also always attempts the lutz, even though it's a weak jump for her. The only thing she's held back on are the triple-triples, but she recently tried those again as well. Say what you want about Ashely, but you cannot deny that she really goes for it in her skating. Even though I know that hurts her results at times, I really like that about her.

I am glad Ashley is moving the 3lutz back to the 1st half of her long program. It still looks like a big old flutz to me though.

If she is serious about the 3/3 in the short, she really should change the solo jump to the loop instead.

Not convinced about Czisny's jumps, despite the beautiful skating. Nagasu looks right on track - jumps are looking better and she seems much mroe comfortable with the programs (despite momentary lapses etc)

Nationals results need to look like this:

1. Nagasu
2. Wagner
3. Czisny
4. Gao
5. Flatt

Am I the only one who believes in Gao? She's 10x more interesting than Flatt and Zawadzki IMO.

Well you certainly make up for any lack in number of posts about her...

That still doesn't make her interesting.
