So about Lindsay Davis definitely being able to make it out of sectionals this year, if she skates like she did in Graz, I don't see that happening. 12th at a JGP is not that impressive, and her score was pretty low, significantly lower than the scores Ellie was putting up last year on the JGP. I don't know what happened in the FS but Lindsay hardly rotated anything. Too bad too because I quite liked her SP.

Can you remind me of who else will be at PACS before I comment? ;)

Flatt had smokin' 3Lutz-3Loop combo in the warm up for the SP and LP. Just looks like it isn't quite consitent yet...so, her scores will continue to go up! ;)
A new look for her this season...love the short hair, a new sense of movement across the ice IMO, very character driven programs, great choreo and her fluidity has improved!

Good to hear about the 3Lz+3Lo! :) She will be a force if she hits it, especially in the SP.

Agreed. That combo is worth massive amounts of points, even if the 3lo is UR.

Lam, Zhou, Kawamura, Alba. And Gong if she doesn't qualify for the JGPF.

It looks like Gong will qualify if she places 1-4 in her second assignment, so let's count her out. Lam, Zhou, and and Kawamura are strong, but I don't see Davis placing behind Alba. You never know, however. If Kristiene somehow misses the JGPF, then Davis should start to worry. It really comes down to Gong qualifying. Hopefully Gong can Qualify and Davis can make it out of sectionals (or Regionals for that matter). Aren't they all SWP?

Yes, all are SWP for Regionals. If Lam picks up a JGP assignment in either Dresden or Ostrava, she will have a bye through to Coasts. All that depends on how Baga and Wang perform this week, and whether TPTB decide to give Cesario (or Jiang) a second event. Everything is so dependent on each other!

I disagree about Agnes. I feel like this is beating a dead horse, but if you've seen her skate live and in person, you'll notice she's not slow. Please don't use grainy quality YouTube videos to judge her speed by. Yes, she's NOT Carolina Kostner when it comes to this area, but she's NOT slow either, and to be honest, I can't see her PCS (especially for skating skills) being low if she skates lights-out.

There are plenty of people who've seen Agnes live who say her stroking needs work. Which is the main thing and probably is what is so noticable on youtube. Nobody's saying that her skating skills are bad, they are saying they are average. But the fact of the matter is a lot of the top ladies today have better than average skating skills and speed.

I gotta tell you, this endless discussion of whether Agnes' speed is medium or medium-rare is absolutely scintillating. :watch:

Back on topic, good to hear Rachael did the 3lz-3lo in warm up. If she does land it in competition, she'd be the first since Ando circa 2007 and the only one currently.

Isn't it, though? ;) Look, I guess we'll see on the GP how the international judges react to Agnes' skating. The seemed to like her just fine at Jr. Worlds, so I'm not buying into the doom and gloom just yet. :)

Jenna, Adelina Sotnikova did the 3Lz+3Lo in her FS in Austria this week (I think she's the first since Ando, though).

I hope the new UR rules will encourage a lot more of our girls to start attempting 3/3s at international events. The only way to get better at them is to practice!

So far, the senior ladies are planning/attempting:
--Rachael: 3Lz+3Lo (in practice), 2A+3T
--Agnes: 3T+3T, 2A+3T, 3Lz+3T (in practice)
--Mirai: 3Lz+3T, 2A+3T (from last season)
--Christina: 3F+3T, 2A+3T (in practice)
--Amanda: 3T+3T (from last season)
--Kristiene: 2A+3T
--Yasmin: 3T+3T (in practice this summer)

We could also see attempts from Caroline (3F+3T?), Ashley (3F+3T or 3F+3Lo?) and maybe even Alissa? Nationals will be exciting!

How silly of me to forget so quickly. :o

Alright, alright -- I meant the first senior lady! ;)

There was a cryptic report a couple of months ago of Caroline practicing 2A combinations. I don't recall if it was 2A-3T or 2A-3Lo. Anyway, there may be more 3/3's on this list than we will see in competition.
I hope we get updates on Mirai's injury. Somebody posted something over on GoldenSkate I never realized. She has no senior ISU medals. Maybe she will pick up 1 or 2 this Grand Prix.

Nagasu has only competed in 4 Senior Grand Prix competitions, 1 Olympics, and 1 Worlds. IMO, medals aren't as important as showing improvements/progress from one season to the next. With her injury setback this summer, I'm not expecting Nagasu to be in top form this fall. Hopefully she will train steadily in the weeks and months ahead and be ready for Nationals.

True, and same here.
