^ Not sure about that. Anyway, she certainly chose the right moment to peak. She's incredibly lucky in that regard.

Is it luck..or skill?

Meissner was landing some nice triple toe loops in practice at that Chicago ice show in May according to someone I know who was there and witnessed it. But if she was willing and able to return to competition this season, I think she would have already competed by now.

I think it's both (good timing = luck to me). I don't think anyone can "choose" when to peak in their skating careers, though. ;)

It will be interesting to see how Christina measures up against the Russian wonderbabies on the JGP and hopefully the JGPF. If she can beat them, then I totally think her going to Worlds this season is a legitimate possibility.

Both. :D

EXACTLY. I rest my case.

Kimmie has the distinction of being the last U.S. lady to win a senior, A-level ISU event. That was 2007 Skate America. She also has the distinction of being the last U.S. lady to win a senior ISU championship. That was the 2007 Four Continents.

Kimmie's big issue in recent years has been URs. She did so well before the judges got so strict about URs, and so she got credit for her 3-3s then even though today they would never be ratified. That's why I sort of doubt any Kimmie comeback would be convincing, just because things have changed so much since she left.

funny how we've begun discussing Meissner issues when the thread title says "2010-2011 US Senior Ladies"... :P

To be honest, I'd rather watch Kimmie than most of the current crop of ladies with the exception of Ashley and Mirai. If Alissa could ever get her act together, I'd add her to my list of watchables.

Here's my (unofficial) list of 10 U.S. Senior ladies who currently have a bye through Sectionals in November to 2011 Nationals:
Flatt, Nagasu, Wagner, Cohen (if she plans to compete), Gao - they were top 5 at 2010 Nationals; Dobbs & Musademba (Cup of China); C. Zhang & Gilles (Skate America); and Zawadzki (Cup of Russia). Here's the break down by section:
Eastern - Wagner, Musademba
Midwestern - Flatt, Gao, Gilles, Zawadzki
Pacific Coast - Nagasu, Cohen, Dobbs, C. Zhang
Anyone who qualifies for the Senior or Junior Grand Prix Final will also receive a bye through Sectionals if they don't already have one.

The Regional bye situation in October is still unclear for some, and so I am waiting for more information before I post about that.

^^ So if Kiri Baga doesn't qualify for the JGPF, then she will have to compete at midwestern sectionals?

Yes.

Here's the distribution by section of the 5 U.S. Senior ladies who are competing on the JGP this fall (excluding Christina Gao who has a bye straight to Nationals):
Eastern - Yasmin Siraj (a 2nd JGP should give her a bye through New England Regionals), Samantha Cesario (North Atlantic)
Midwestern - Kiri Baga (her JGP in JPN should give her a bye through Upper Great Lakes Regionals)
Pacific Coast - Kristiene Gong (Southwest Pacific), Lindsay Davis (also SWP)

ETA: The 2 listed Senior ladies JGP alternates are Felicia Zhang (NA/Eastern) and Vanessa Lam (SWP/Pacific).

So Czisny has 2 assignments, Skate Canada and TEB, but she would have to compete at Mids?

Midwestern Sectionals is a week after Skate Canada. Would she be given a bye to Nats?

Neither of Czisny's GP events gives her a bye though her Regional or Sectional -- it's a 7-day window for non-Asian competitions.

Yes, that's what I've heard unofficially. I believe Czisny is being granted a bye through EGL Regionals, however (also unofficial hearsay).
