the choreo was a mess, he looked like he was making it up as he went along

When I stated that I believed his performance ability at Euros was on par with the Swedish Championships, it doesn't mean that I thought he did a fantastic job. You should remember that Kristoffer didn't have great free skate in Malmö (he looked somewhat hesitant, especially in the first half). I may be in the minority here, but as long as I skip the bad jumps and spins on my media player, the Euros LP is watchable. He hasn't really done justice to his MJ routine so far this season. Koffe was slightly sluggish during his free skate at both Finlandia and SC, and he appeared rather lost while performing the LP at the Ice Challenge (I'm guessing the same thing happened when he competed at the Merano Cup).

To better compare the two performances, I watched both his Euros' and Swedish Nationals' LPs on my computer at the same time, and the choreo is virtually identical. The only section where I can see that Kris had to improvise at Euros was shortly after he messed up his first spin. The last few moves of his Choreographed Step Sequence are different than what he did at the Swedish Championships, but I'm quite certain those changes were made by his choreographer after that competition because they are an improvement over the previous version. Most of the judges at Euros seemed to like it because Berntsson did receive +GOEs for that element.

Of course, I'm just a fan, not a figure skater or a dancer, so I'm sure I miss details that others can easily see.

Yep, that was surely his worst skate ever.

Based on the protocols, Kris' LP at the 2010 Merano Cup may have been a little worse. :shuffle: He landed only 1 or 2 triples cleanly at that event, plus his PCS was only 58.68 (vs. 62.98 at the 2011 Euros), so that must have been a pretty godawful performance. To the best of my knowledge, the lowest score he has received for a free skate was at the 2007 Skate America, where he didn't even break the 100 mark (98.37). Don't forget that Kristoffer had a disastrous performance at the 2006 Olympics (102.40). I'm fairly certain he messed up his LPs quite badly during his first few trips to Euros where he finished 21st three years in a row.

All I'm trying to say is that a headcase like Koffe has had plenty of weak performances, so while his LP at Euros was definitely one the worst of his career, there are other candidates for absolute worst. :slinkaway

Another example of a skater who could have got far, if only he could find a sport psychologist he'd have a good relationship with. :(

Actually, he does have one. If you look on Kristoffer's website, he lists the name of his psychology coach, which I assume is the same or at least similar to a sports psychologist: http://www.landvetterkk.com/Kristoffer/About_Me.html Of course, he probably can't work with this psychologist as often as he needs due to financial limitations (or the guy just isn't very good at his job :blah:).

Berntsson's name has been removed from the Mont Blanc Trophy competitors' list. Does anyone know why? The Swedish federation hasn't chosen a replacement for him (at least not yet).

Are there any Koffeholics in Copenhagen with a video recording device? Since there is no live stream available for the Nordic Championships (I've already checked with the Danish Skating Union), I was hoping someone would film Kristoffer's performances. Pretty please? ;)

Danes will be able to watch a news report on TV2 at 19:30 tonight about the Nordics Senior Men's Short Program: http://www.nordics2011.dk/News/2011/February/NM%202011%20at%20TV2%20Lorry%20tonight.aspx I'm not sure if Koffe will be included, but if he is, I hope someone can give us a summary.

Sorry, I can't do that. I don't have a recorder.

Okay, I hope you can still give us a summary.

I've checked the results for Nordics, and I can finally BREATHE. Phew! I've been holding my breath for the past few hours because I was so nervous for Koffe!

Summary: Nothing special - I think it was for a minute only, tops. The speaker said that the Nordics is held this year in Denmark i Rødovre (Copenhagen), and today the men skated their short programs. You could see Berntsson do some of his program for a couple a seconds, then Danish Justus Strid doing a spin. The speaker then said he will represent Denmark at Worlds.

On the home page of the official Nordics website (http://www.nordics2011.dk/), it says:

Remember to watch: Saturday 12th February TV2 News will in the program News and Sports broadcast live television from Nordic Championship 2011 at 16.00 to 19.00.

I don't think you want to miss that, sequinsgalore! ;)

I happen to notice this Danish message on the Nordics website homepage:

På Nordics 2011 sidste dag kom DR TV og optog et indslag til aftenens sportsudsendelse. Første indslag vil blive vist i Sporten efter TV Avisen kl. 18:30 og der vil også blive et indslag i DR Sporten kl. 21:40.

Approximate English translation with Google Translate: At Nordic 2011 last day came DR TV and filmed a spot for the evening sports broadcast. The first spots will appear in sport after TV newspaper at. 18:30 and there will also be a feature of sport at DR. 21:40.

Would you be able to watch this, sequinsgalore?

In case anyone may have missed this, here are highlights from Kristoffer's Nordics LP: http://www.on-sport.dk/video/1161208/nordics2011_3-rd-in-senior-men

Oddly enough, there is no video for Adrian Schultheiss on the website even though he won the free skate and is the Nordic silver medalist. I can only guess that Koffe may be more popular, or the folks at "On Sport" enjoyed his MJ routine so much that they posted the highlights as a way to give him an "honourable mention". Well, whatever the reason, I'm glad I got to see some of Kris' skating, especially considering that his SP is nowhere to be found.

I did notice on the News section of the Nordics website that Berntsson received more compliments for his choreography than his teammates: http://www.nordics2011.dk/News/2011/February/Senior%20Mens%20Short%20Programme.aspx , http://www.nordics2011.dk/News/2011/February/Senior%20Men.aspx So whatever faults he has as a competitor, it appears that the Danes still appreciate him as a performer. :)

Berntsson spoke to Sveriges Radio about his disappointment over not making the World team: http://sverigesradio.se/sida/artikel.aspx?programid=179&artikel=4355697 If what he says is more than what is written in the text, could someone please translate the interview?

He doesn't say anything more than what is written in the text except that Worlds was his big goal. It is sad if he now ends his competitive career. I will miss him!
