Will they? Maybe if they got an invitation to Cup of Russia, but otherwise I dont think they have any of those World Qualification points you need for GP assignments. This team is new, so they didnt compete anywhere last season.

Or will they get the points for K/N?

They won't get any of K/N's points, but I believe they are eligible to be invited to other GPs besides CoR based on K/N's place in the world standings.

Exact wording:
Pairs or Dance couples, who were placed amongst the ranks as previously mentioned in criteria a) and
b) in the year 2007/2008 or 2008/2009, but have split, will be considered in the alternate list with the new partner, if proof is given that they intend to continue the competitive career.

I'm mystified as well - would he have had trouble being released from his federation? Maybe they didnt want to wait the 2 years or whatever it would take?

He didn't compete at Euros, did he? They'd be able to compete at 2011 Euros in that case.

Zoueva definitely coached ice dance in Canada for some years before joining Shpilband. ( It was her discipline as a skater.)
This latest article says Fedor has been coaching ice dancers in his off time.Wouldn't he have had to pass some tests to do that ?

Bizarre as the whole idea seemed at first , if all the people mentioned so far consider it to be worth a try..it seems a bit silly for us to continue to view him as a complete neophyte. He must have some abilities we don't know about.

The RSF won't throw money at a lost cause (even at a discount ); Z/S won't risk their reputations at this stage of the game ( even for a family member ); so if it doesn't work , it'll be dropped pretty quickly.

Edit : I checked back to the traslated article..actually it's a little ambiguous as to whether Fedor was helping to train other Ice Dancers , or whether he , himself , was training as an Ice Dancer in his off-time. Either way , it implies he could have more familiarity with dance than he's being given credit for.

For sure Jana wants to climb as high as she can..but she'd probably be very happy if they could come in somewhere close to what she had to settle for this year.

"Making lemonade" perhaps?

If Jana is unable to find a suitable Russian partner to get back onto the international podiums, then why not make the best of it and go with the :psoty: porniest male skater out there? :smokin:

...not to mention the fact that in addition to inherently good carriage and skating skills, Fedor is rather expressive and :inavoid: voidy as well?

Even if there are no major medals, there could be show skating, and nice potential (for the team and Zoueva) to let loose on choreography without having the pressure and constraints of those aiming to finish in the Top 5?

They can get a Cup of Russia host pick, but not any other original invitation. They'd be eligible to fill a vacancy due to withdrawal.

I just haven't seen that from Andreev - I have always found him wooden and remarkably uncompelling as a free skater (apart from the amazing looks, that is :swoon:). Can someone perhaps link to some Youtubes that show his potential to be an ice dancer worthy of Jana, because I haven't found anything yet.

Can you imagine this team if Jana could jump? Wow, what a pair team! Not so sure about the dance, though.

Maybe Andreev and Khorklova will be dancing as pros. It will be so hard to gain a spot on the national team since Russia have quite a few promising young teams.

The above video just says average to me.

And he's not even handsome.

I am totally  about the whole huge fanbase thing.

I don't think his edge control is all that great in this clip. Because it's a singles' program, his use of body space wouldn't translate to dance (unless he wanted to whack her around and smother her), and I don't see how it's possible to see from the clip how he'd move with a partner.

And here is a small fluff about his pairing with Jenny Kirk back in 2003.
