Jana and Fedor :shuffle: not sure about this combo but it can't get any worse i guess. At least they both have good skating skills and good looks/which is important for ice dance/ .Hopefully they'll have good chemistry,Zueva and Shpilband will give them proper programs and we'll see .I just fell sad for Sergey .
As for the height difference, Fedor is as tall as Sergey .

Khokhlova officially asked the Russian Figure Skating Federation (RFSF) to approve her split with Sergey and the creation of the new couple (Khokhlova/Fedorov). According to GZT.ru this new couple is already training in the USA under Shpilband and Zueva. In a two weeks period they made two programs which are now to be shown to the RFSF to get their approval.

The new pair can represent Russia while Fedor was born there and holds the Russian passport. He also didn't skate for Canada for more than a year, that's why he can start to compete for Russia right away. The issue about finincing the couple is to be solved now. Jana and Fedor should wait for the desision of the RFSF, which takes no decisions at the present time, because of the upcoming elections of the future head of the federation.

That's, basically, what the article is about :)

According to those links he is 5 cm (about 2 inches) taller. That makes him 27 cm taller than Jana (almost a foot).

Seriously?? Andreev.. I knoe there weren't any options in Russia but for skater of her calibre Jana chose from all people a guy who has never competed in Dance??

Well, I guess B/S and I/K can stay calm knowing they are definetely russian 1 and 2 teams now.

Boy, Canton's gonna full to the brim this coming season. Who's gonna leave first? Probably one of the younger teams like the Shibs, I'd think. Or maybe C&Z, cause they're probably only gonna be 4th or 5th in line over there at this point behind V&M, D&W, S&B, Jana/Fedor and possibly S&S.

The good news about this is that this is probably the Russian team that S&Z were talking about working with (or maybe it was the Russian Fed that was talking about a team working with them, I forget what the article actually said).

How did Fedor become an ice-dancer? Lessons with Tessa?

Aside from choreographing the nationals program I think she was moreso a.."mentor"".

Shpilband/Zoueva usually produce very fantastic male partners, its the girls who don't keep pace  so the Jana/Fedor partnership is the reverse opposite. Except for the fact that he's never competed as an ice dancer and is 28!!

Well, I guess there's still hope for those Lambiel fans who want him to switch to ice dance.

Could this couple even be a possibility if CDs were still part of the game?:P
What a joke!

I still keep thinking she would be perfect with Tchakenko. How tall is he? Is it a height thing?

Tkachenko is not interested.

It would be a height thing, yes. She is way too short for him.

And he was still 10xs better than Shabalin.

I'm sorry but this is a ridiculous statement to make.

He might have been better this season with Shabalin hardly being able to skate but before, they used to be in totally different leagues.

Damn right! :cheer:

It doesn't really matter anymore if he has dance experience. CDs are gone and even if he has to do them it will only be one pattern. Skating close together in varied holds in the OD and FD is going the way of the dinosaur. So it all comes down to how well he can twizzle and chuck her around his shoulders in lifts.

As long as they can get through the TES stuff, all they have to do is skate around with some power and flair and occasionally wave their arms and legs around with a twizzle here and there and they'll be on their way. The fact that they have two programs to show already makes me confident that they've been appropriately Shpilbanded.

Plus, he certainly has better line and is more stylish than Novitski. (Sorry Tak)
