Thank you for the link to Susanna's article. Sounds like she's keeping busy with school, part-time work and doing some charity work. I was sorry to hear her back injuries meant she was in pain her last few competitive seasons, but I'm hoping she will eventually be able to train again -enough to do a few shows, at least. Loved her understated elegance!

I found a very recent YouTube of Bela and Beata's little brother Benjam, 10! :cheer: How cute is he (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k6ZoIIUx_eo&feature=related). :swoon:
Very cute! Thanks, Hanna! And here's the 4th skating Papp sibling, Bettina: Novice SP (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NXQ0knblrN0) & Novice FS (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NKO58qsektg).

I enjoyed Juulia Turkkila's Worlds debut!

So for 2011-2012 season Finland has 5 spots for JGP. Does anyone have any idea who will get these assigments? Will the Federation go by SB scores?

Junior Season Best scores 2010-2011:
1. Juulia Turkkila 134,54 17.-19.12.2010 SM2011, Turku
2. Nea Viiri 125,31 17.-19.12.2010 SM2011, Turku
3. Cecilia Törn 124,01 19.-21.11.2011 2.vk, Joensuu (senioritulos -2 pistettä)
4. Beata Papp 123,36 17.-19.12.2010 SM2011, Turku (senioritulos -2 pistettä)
5. Timila Shrestha 119,84 2.-5.12.2010 NRW Trophy, Saksa
6. Alisa Mikonsaari 118,78 19.-21.11.2011 2.vk, Joensuu (senioritulos -2 pistettä)
7. Seidi Rantanen 116,68 17.-19.12.2010 SM2011, Turku
8. Reetta Romppanen 113,78 17.-19.12.2010 SM2011, Turku (senioritulos -2 pistettä)
9. Noora Pitkänen 113,36 1.-4.12.2010 Santa Claus Cup, Unkari
10. Rosaliina Kuparinen 112,56 15.-20.2.2011 Mont Blanc Trophy, Italia

I would love to see Seidi at JGP but that looks unlikely. :(

I believe that Juulia might have a chance to senior GP assigment but I think it would be wiser for her to stay in JGP.

I would love to see Timila as I remember Hanna raving about her.

Wouldn't it be great if EuroKwan could get into politics too? :P

Does anyone have news on Lepisto?

Kiira Korpi is keeping her SP Somewhere over the rainbow but will have a new FP.
I don´t know it it also is by David Wilson.

:cheer2: I love that program!

Me too. :cheer2:

My favorite part of the new season is seeing what she's going to wear.

She should find some music from an old Grace Kelly movie and skate to it dressed like GK.

Does anyone have news on Lepisto?

:sekret:reported her skating in the Finnish team´s camp in Vierumäki, where Brian Orser was teaching. She was in a good mood and shape and really attacking everything she did.:sekret: said Laura is coming back with her all guns firing next season.

If Turkkila does JGP she will get 2 spots for sure, so that only leaves 3 avaible for all the other girls.

Timila is really cute too! Nice spins and flexibility.

In that sense doing SGP could make more sense, but she likely wouldn't get 2 assignments if she does, and might not even get 1 where the spots are being slashed and Lepisto will be back.

I would think that Juulia is still gonna do JGP this upcoming season. She only got 1 chance for it last season and it's not likely for her to get a senior GP either. She has much better chances on the junior circuit. Nationally I'm sure she'll be a senior and she will definitely also do senior B's, like Finlandia Trophy.

It's too bad for her - after such great showings this season - that if Laura and Kiira both are healthy next year, she won't be going to any ISU Championships, with the exception of Junior Worlds.

Yes. :) She is lovely but she did grow a lot this past season and I think it affected her skating. She still has fab spins though! She just changed clubs in January and I hope it'll have a good impact on her skating. Timila, IMO, needs more interesting choreographies and more speed.

My ultimate junior favorite though, is Nea Viiri. :) I'm very much looking forward to seeing her next season. She's made immense progress during the last few seasons. I'm really hoping she'll get a JGP! I think chances are pretty good.

I'd love to see Seidi on the circuit too but I'm not sure about that since Juulia, Nea and Timila will all have one before her. Also Beata if she's still gonna be doing JGP.
ETA: By the way, I thought we had 6 spots for girls? Although one of them is Australia and I'm not sure they're gonna send anyone there. Maybe the Papps? :P

I understood from the anoucments that Juulia should have placed at top 12 at Junior Worlds for us to have 6 spots. She didn't but still made the free skate so we have five spots. Or maybe four if they won't send anyone to Australia.

Anyway I would guess that Juulia gets two events and Nea and Cecilia each get one. And Beata may do Australia? I don't see Cecilia nor Beata refusing since they have no chance to go to SGP anyway.

Susanna's life after the retirement:

http://www.forum24.fi/uutiset/kilpajaat-vaihtuivat-opintoihin

The interview was done before last Christmas.

My message to YLE: Susanna would make a wonderful skating commentator. She is always very composed and has a lot of dignity.

thanks....
don't understand a word but as someone else has said susanna is of REGAL quality .... does she have a boyfriend? haha ... being gossippy / nosy here ....

It is 6 spots, they are listed on the ISU homepage in the JGP11_12_Announcement document. Fin ladies go to all but Romania. http://www5.isu.org/vsite/vnavsite/page/directory/0,10853,4844-151840-169056-nav-list,00.html
