(((Buzz, :P, and :D)))
the greater villain in the Book of Job:

Satan. I'd say the story of Satan being thrown down from heaven is just an allegory for the creation and sustainment of personal ego. (ego, meant here, refers to the delusion that one is a separate and unique identity, a "contracted persona" if you will.) I would say "God" is simply truth/reality and not itself any kind of superior persona..
what? you asked.

I agree with Buzz and sioux insofar as the power of the myth of Satan's fall exists for grownups insofar as it represents the relation of the ego to reality, but as one premise of the story of Job is that God is a superior persona, I identify him as the more blameworthy figure in that case.

Hmmm, what do you mean by premise? Was Book of Job proposing an argument or just telling a story?
Definitely cartoon fox :cheer2: :cheer:

:shuffle: I always assumed that "premise" could be used more widely than to denote presuppositions in argument, though I always thought that the Job story was supposed to have a moral, at least to those who have kept the story in circulation these past several millenia./mindfail
