Which is why it's ridiculous that doing a 3loop at the end of a combo only has a base value of 1 point higher than doing a 3toe at the end of a combo, when the loop is so much more difficult at the back end of a combo than as a solo jump, because you have to fully recharge your body to get another 3 rotations without assist. (Personally I like the 3+3r combos more because it looks so much more impressive when done correctly.) So few ladies try it, right now I believe a young Russian girl (Liza?) is doing 3s+3r combos. Michelle Kwan attempted the 3lz+3loop only once at Skate canada and we all know what happened after :yikes:

Did Michelle fall or something?

Yes, but the :yikes: thing was, it let Sarah Hughes set the precedent at that competition, for beating Kwan and Slutskaya.

Adelina Sotnikova was doing 3–3Lo combo in her SP this season, but she consistently fell on it...

http://mainichi.jp/enta/sports/general/news/20100329spn00m050010000c.html is the article (in japanese) I found about Mao's future coaching. (My japanese is terrible!) so through yahoo babelfish translator it says that Tat will still work with Mao on programs/choreograph a (short?) program? Anyone want to translate please? :D

Yup, I think she is the only one. She does fall on that combination an awful lot but she has been falling on a lot of other jumps this season too so it may just be due to a growthspurt. Liza has a nice 3f-3t and 2a-3t-2lo though, and apparently a 3a, but all her difficult combinations are with 3t not 3lo. Anna Ovcharova said in an interview http://www.goldenskate.com/articles/2009/gpf_4.shtml that she has mastered a 2a-3lo combination and is working on 3-3s, which I assume are 3-3lo as I don't think I've ever seen her do a toeloop as the second jump in a combination, though she did recently start doing the 3t as a solo jump so maybe I am wrong. I hope she does work on 3-3s with the 3t though because she's had her solo 3lo downgraded a few times this season.

Yes, the article says Tarasova's contract with Mao is over, but she will continue to support Mao in the role of advisor, and will be in charge of choreographing either her short or long program for next season. Mao wants to make big improvements starting next season, so she is looking to make major changes in her training. A source close to Mao says she wants to start choreographing one of her new programs by May and wants to decide on her new coach by July. She is planning to stay in Japan so she is mainly looking at Japanese coaches, and since she wants to work on quad jumps and triple triples, she wants a coach who is a good jump technician.

Cool. I'm glad she is entering the new season so enthusiastically. It's great to see she wants to continue to make improvements to her skating.

This article is a bit old one. It's from the day after the Worlds. Although it said that Mao would work on the quad jump, Mao herself have denied it many times in her after-the Worlds interviews. She has said that she'd work on her 3s, 3lz, and 3-3.

And yes, I admit that Mao does have some issues with some of her jumps, but Yu-Na has also things to work on.

One thing for Yuna to work on is to stay healthy, if she decides to come back. She had suffered alot between 2006 and 2007.

Yu-na's spirals are ugly comparing to Mao's. And no, I am not an uber.
