You couldn't have predicted how Zhang would have skated at Worlds last season if she had gone, just like you couldn't have predicted how Wagner would have skated at Worlds this season if she had gone.

Seriously. In 2008 everyone swore up and down Ashley would be the savior of the US team and she was the lowest ranked US skater, placing 15th. This year after the Olympics, there was no doubt in anyone's mind that Mirai and Rachel would earn the spot back. You really cannot make statements like that about this group of skaters. they are all over the place as far as results. Caroline and Rachel I think had a better shot at getting 3 spots back last year vs Rachel and Alissa, but we just don't know for sure if Caroline would have placed 8th or better.

She rotates so fast, that's why I don't find this 3a thing so far fetched. Plus she can do 3-3, I think if you can do 3-3 then it qualifies you as a good jumper.

So can Caroline Zhang, and no one will argue that she is a good jumper.

Fair point. Rachael gets more than 2 inches off the ground though, even if her jumps aren't big either.

All the above? Or, maybe, she and Patrick Chan are developing a nice little romance and she doesn't want to leave him . Pretty princess has found her prince charming :P

Choreography.................nothing more.

Why has she been there so longgg then? I think she's gonna leave Mingzhu and move to Colorado!

Caroline has to rework her jumps, increase her speed, regain her pearl spin and choreograph 2 programs. That should take at least 3 weeks. :P

I believe Rachael stated about working on the 3Axel last summer or something. While she does have the fastest rotation time in the air of the girls, she usually tilts her body a lot in the air...esp for a scary FO takeoff edge on the axel I don't think she can land it unless she seriously works on her technique.

Or maybe she is taping another AT&T commercial. :encore:

Wow! I hadn't seen that before, but it's so beautiful. Too bad it never aired.

Caroline frustrates me because she really does have beautiful qualities as a skater, but they get overlooked with her lack of speed and bad jumps. If she were even able to jump passably well and skate with average speed, she'd probably be one of my favorite skaters.

The ISU has proposed to remove the spiral sequence as one of the required elements in the SP. If this rule gets approved, Caroline is toast unless she fixes her jumps.

They are talking about this over at Goldenskate. The spiral would not be banned, it just would not be required.

It wouldn't score, except it would go in the transition score. Certainly its value would be diminished.

You're mean, but even as a Flatt fan, I find it laughable ;)

Actually, with more weight on 3A with a possible safety net on under-rotation, this could be a gamble worth taking for Rachael. If she doesn't get it, under-rotated or otherwise, she will not lose much failing the experiment. But, if she gets it with reasonable consistency even under-rotated, Rachael can be ahead of Mirai.

I don't remember where or when, but I recall an interview where Caroline claimed she was working on a triple axel.
