Voodoo Donuts has been featured on the Food Network several times. Unfortunately, I've never had a bad meal in Portland. From a culinary perspective, it is incredible. :D
Ooh, that is fantastic to hear! Bf and I are foodies somewhat.

He just booked a small cottage a little ways from the arena, so we can't do the free light rail. Although the listing for the cottage said that they'd provide an inner-city EV so that'll be fun, for sure.

I have a friend who has lived in Portland for many years and has an apartment in the Pearl. He is the main culprit as to why I tend to roll out of Portland after a stay there. I'll ask him to give me a list of great restaurants.

Voodoo Donuts was soooo good! I definitely want to stop there on the way to practice one morning. There was a great Italian restaurant and a great seafood restaurant I ate at when I was in Portland last summer, but the names are totally escaping me. I'll have to look them up.... I also remember loving the sandwiches and cookies at the Paradise Bakery in the Lloyd Center mall.

I've done it--ordered my tix and am expecting them in the mail any day. I'll be staying with my old flame or as we might say now, friend with benefits. That will be a highlight of the year, for sure. look forward to seeing a lot of you there!

I just saw that. I'm closer to Burbank but to save the money I'd get my husband to drive me down to Long Beach. :D

Price just dropped to $170 roundtrip woohoo! :summer:

My tickets arrived last week or so, and I started to look for a hotel, we would love one in the downtown area. Any recommendations? My main problem finding some seem to be that even paying 150$/night (which I think is a bit steep already) they want a lot of money for parking, and we will be driving down. Any good hotels with free parking?
The official hotel seems to be Hilton @110$, which is not bad, but I cant figure out what they would charge for the parking, or internet.

Normally I would direct you to the the Courtyard Portland Downtown/Lloyd Center but they're sold old. Try the Residence Inn Portland Downtown/Lloyd Center. They have free parking. The current rate for a single studio is $113 without any discounts.

Lucky you - Bay Area to Portland remains stuck at $300 round trip. I'll wait it out.

You could drive for way cheaper than that. Granted, it would add an extra two days to the trip but still...
