Pavlova?
Pavlova?
Actually, didn't someone say a while ago that Tatiana & Stanislav had been talking to a Moscow coach? And she moved there about 3 years ago...
I can't help but have mixed feelings if that's the case. I usually like Pavlova's choreography, but her pairs don't gel too well technically.
Oh, but this article says she and Trankov are auditioning in Saint Petersburg. Hmm

I'm just kinda afraid that if Volosozhar and Trankov don't go to Moskvina, then they might lose to K/S due to Moskvina's politiks.. as we've seen plenty already.

Is the coach such a secret then? All coaches except the chosen one know that it is not themselves anyway. So spill! ;)
If I knew I would;)

Pavlova? What Russian pairs has he/she coached? I am not sure who she/he is.

This would make no sense to me.
I hope they do end up with Moskvina. Her resume is impressive. Some of the most memorable Pairs programs (Worlds and Olympics) have come from her. Think of the magic she could create with V/T talent. And she seems to have adapted CoP much better than when she kind of went nuts with Obertas/Slavnov so long ago.
Is TAT in St. Pete?

well...let's just say it doesn't work out...wasn't it a bit early for Maxim to announce the end of his partnership with Mukhortova?
Judging by his tone in the interviews from before Worlds, it sounded like Maxim would rather retire than keep skating with Maria. Seems like an ugly situation. Ironically, I thought the body language between Maria and Max was better than usual this year, and they had some of their best skating (and results), too. But who knows how much fighting was going on behind the scenes .. There's always been rumors. This abrupt split isn't a big risk if Maxim would rather retire than keep going with Maria.
I think they got screwed out of a medal at Worlds though. A shame. I didn't love their skating and they left me a little cold, but I am still a little sad to see Maria and Maxim go.

She is the current coach of Iliushechkina/Maisuradze and Martiusheva/Rogonov, and the former coach of Totmianina/Marinin.

Well its true that Moskvina is great at politics. BUT did you stop to think that maybe at this particular competition the Russian federation might have already been thinking about the greener pastures of a Maxim/Tatiana pairing. The fact that Maxim just mentioned that the current President of the Russian federation likes Tatiana-is telling. Perhaps the last thing they wanted was for Trankov to think again-so to speak.

Makes sense. And on that note, if you are banking on this pairing, why wouldn't you want your #1 coach to coach them? :) Just sayin, I want Moskvina!

Well maybe perhaps because your no1 coach worked with Trankov before and that arrangement didn't work so well? Its got to be about what coach works best with the skaters. Just because someone is a great coach doesn't mean that they are the right coach for that particular skater or team.

No Moskvina, please! She's clearly like a fish out of the water in COP and has created only monstrosities for K/S and Obertas before. She, like Tarasova, live from their past accomplishments and not in the present. It's a pity they can't stay with Steuer, the best pair coach at the moment, IMO

True. Maybe Trankov has matured since then? Maybe he and Tatiana would get along better than he and Maria? Maybe Moskvina wouldn't mesh well at all with either of them. And maybe they would not get along with Moskvina's coaching style.
I have no idea what Steur's coaching style is, but chances are good that he is a modern coach and his choreography I found fresh and dynamic and well suited for his skaters. V/T both seem like beautiful passionate skaters so I hope whoever they end up with will bring out the best in them.

So you are saying you don't like K/S programs? :D
Why?

Where to begin? I'll say she's responsible for the worst death spiral (if it can be called like that) I have seen in my entire life. Why is Yuko trying to smell her foot?... that should be a +3 GOE in horrendous taste

Moskvina may not have mastered choreography under CoP but one of the things I always gave her credit for was for not being one of those coaches who had a tendency to chose favorites when she was training more than one top team at a time. I'm thinking of when she had B&S and K&D then a couple of years later B&S and I&Z. Of course I&Z probably weren't a threat to B&S unless Elena and Anton had a disaster of a SP or LP.
I bring that up because if Tatiana and Max did team up and train with Steuer he is still training S&S. Is he a coach who gives equally to each team? I know any potential pairing and coaching situation is still hypothetical for the time being but I would hate for either team to get the short end of the stick.
I've read through this thread and I'm not sure what to think. I can see why Russia would want Tatiana Volosozhar skating for them; she would be a huge asset and would help get the pairs back on track.
I love M&T and agree with those who observed that Maria and Max seemed to be skating better and definitely were getting along better off ice this year. I also think that K&S are still developing as a team; I've liked their programs as designed by Moskvina even though many do not. The only criticism I can understand is that Tamara seems to be modelling K&S into a new B&S. I think K&S could be a bit edgier than B&S; I'd like to see Moskvina break away from the B&S mold. I also loved the programs she created for Julia Obertas and partner(s). IMO it was the mistakes that would pepper the programs that made them look less than stellar.
I wish that it were possible to see into the future (yeah I know that is impossible and silly) because I have a feeling that either one or both of the K&S and M&T teams are not going to make it through the entire next four years. Yuko's shoulder makes me nervous and it seems that M&T will probably never be the best of friends off the ice. Max seems to get very discouraged after each set back; most teams would be but with Max after each disappointment he's seems ready to give up. Perhaps being with a partner and coach whom he could have a better relationship with would make a difference.
In reality I don't really want to see either of these teams break up but given the current situation, it would be better for Max or Sasha to start the new quadrennial with a new partner and establish themselves and thus set themselves up for Sochi rather than have to attempt to adjust to a new partner one or two seasons pre-Sochi. I think that would put any new team at a disadvantage unless they gelled really quickly. That has been known to happen.

I need to make a correction as I had a major Doh! moment. For some reason I had forgotten that Ingo Steuer already coaches Volosozhar and former partner so I guess there wouldn't be conflict of interest or favoritism. Sorry about that. :P
