Mishin?

She really needs extra help with the jumps IMO.

You want Maria to skate with Mishin??!!??

If M&T were to really split, I think Blanchard would be a great match for Maria. Wasn't he in Vasiliev's group to begin with? He has the right to compete for Russia, and he hasn't been out on international competition for a while, they could start with the Rostelecom cup next season...

Yes.

IMO she needs to be "paired" with someone to help her jumping before she thinks about another partner.

Trankov sounds like any old burned out professional. Just, most people who are suffering from work burnout don't have a public forum to hear it. I think he is being responsible, in keeping the future vague (if plans with another partner have already been made), and showing respect both to his current partner, and the name mentioned as a possible one.

It was a joke.....Maria and Mishin skating together as a pair.....

I agree Trankov sounds burned out and he also sounds disillusioned with his current training situation.

Are Maria and Oleg Vassliev still a couple?

Sorry... I didn't get that, should have with the emoticon and all!

I really respect what Oleg has done with M/T. They have improved dramatically. But if rumors are true he is 2/2 in getting involved with his female student and turning them blond. If he has one more pair where he dates a newly blond student, and she starts showing little emotion when she skates, my "ick" alarm is going to start beeping loudly.

But am not sure that I want to remain in figure skating for the rest of my life. Of course I will if I have to, but I don't really want to. Funnily enough, I don't like this sport.

Are you freakin kidding me? then leave stupid. I certainly won't miss you and you blandness on ice

What an idiot to be spewing off such off-putting remarks about his hate of the sport and his lack on interest in going to worlds before the Worlds Championships. How does he think the judges and officials are gonna feel about that? Why sabotage his partner with such stupidity instead of skating with dignity for the team's sake and then sharing his remarks when the season is over?

And what da hell made him think they'll medal in Vancouver? Skating clean at the GPF certainly didn't do it, and they've never even medaled at worlds. So you made mistakes at the big O. deal with it like a man, not like a sour-puss.
and sorry to break it to you, but Love Story was the worst of all the Top 10 pairs LPs this season.
UGH

Wow, I didn't realize Maria and Maxim were already 25 and 27.

I don't know why, but thought they where each about 2-3 years younger.

I'll admit that I'm a bit :swoon: for him, but he does seem pretty immature for 27.

MR-FAN, ITA. Even though he was "diplomatic" in his responses about the female skaters, he really shouldn't be skating if he doesn't even like the sport as sport or art. Even though he's "sucking it up" and doing his job by practicing and going to Worlds, I think that even political suicide doesn't matter, because they just won't perform well with that attitude.

Personally, while everyone suggests Trankov for Volosozhar, I cringe. I think she deserves far better. I think Smirnov *can* be better, but he's just packaged and paired all wrong. But I wonder if there are other strong Russian men pairs skaters out there somewhere.

I think upgrading to the 3sal killed their timing on the other jumps. It was a shame. And for all the talk of them having a poor relationship, they didn't turn on each other when it didn't go well. I hope they both keep skating somehow.

I really love Maxim Trankov as a skater but I'm so disappointed.

Doesn't time go fast? It seems like just yesterday I was looking forward to my 3 favorite junior teams of C/O-USA, M/T-RUS and D/D-CAN going senior. At the time I thought we were gonna have a quad of these three teams getting better and better and switching Gold medals between them.

But then a Japanese lady moved to Russia to team up with a Smirnov, a McBru emerged, a german pair got good, and much to my horror 3 chinese teams hung around.

And of course none of the three could achieve a consistency on the sbs jumps which has hurt them. But I must admit watching their journey over the last 4 years has been enjoyable as much as frustrating. Where would they all be now if not for CoP?
