If Tatiana and Trankov are paired, they will most likely sit out just only one season and the logic seems that by the 2011-2012 season they will be able to compete at least at Sheffield Europeans and Nice Worlds, getting the points for the ranking and therefore with grand prix assignments for even 2012-2013 circuit.

Something that with Radford is very unlikely, given that they choose to go for Canada

And if they go for Ukraine, the ´release´of him will be difficult, along with getting citizenship.

I'm not following your logic. If Volo and Radford are paired, they will only have to sit out one season as well. If they skated for the Ukraine, they could compete as early as this coming fall at a comp like Nebelhorn. If they skated for Canada, they would have to wait until Worlds in 2011 - if they went to Worlds they could get ISU points.

I am looking most for a long term- Sochi 2014 games given that I think that Tatiana wants to go there and WIN a medal, not just taking part, she has couple of experiences as participant, now she wants and deserves to go as a real contender.

Citizenship issues will be most difficult to solve for a canadian-ukrainian pair, IMO, than for a russian-ukrainian.

As the international exposure will be better if she goes for Russia, for me is the best option

Canada fast-tracked Kaitlyn Weaver so I don't see why they wouldn't do it for another skater if they want it badly enough.

I also see the same amount of international exposure for her whether it's Russia or Canada. GP events, Euros/4CCs, Worlds -- it'll happen for her whatever country she chooses to compete for.

All this said, I'm quite certain she'll pair up with Trankov if she can handle his temperment.

If Volosozhar/Trankov teamed up would be able to compete at the 2011 Worlds if Tatiana is sits out the 2010 Worlds. Only one calender year has to pass for a pairs or dance partner to be able to represent another country.

They would already have assignments for the 2011-2012 GP circuit thanks to their scores at the 2011 Worlds.

Thanks for the translation!

Maybe it's just season burn-out and disappointment, but Max seems dis-illusioned with his Federation (politics), his training environment, his partner, and his own love of skating seems non-existent.

I hate to say this, but if this is his attitude, I hope Tatiana does find another partner. Someone with energy, love of skating, and a drive to compete and win. She deserves 100% from a partner. If he is thinking about skating with Tatiana, I hope he takes a looong vacation rejuvenates, reenergizes, and comes into a new partnership with a new attitude. JMO.

I looked at the citizenship issues (http://www.fsuniverse.net/forum/showpost.php?p=2602577&postcount=135) when this was discussed back in January, and found that while Ukraine doesn't allow dual citizenship, they grant temporary citizenship for up to a year, which does not become permanent until the person formally renounces the other citizenship (with exceptions that don't apply to Canada).

If the temporary citizenship comes with a passport and is recognized by the IOC, then, presumably, the Ukraine government could waive all of the other rules and grant Radford citizenship before the Olympics, and he could let it expire after the Olympics without renouncing Canadian citizenship. (This assumes that there wouldn't be a special provision for him, like the Estonian government was willing to make for Mallory.)

Without special provisions, this would work for one Olympic cycle, unless he were willing to renounce Canadian citizenship. He just turned 25 at the end of January, and would be 29 for Sochi and 33 for 2018. 33 is tricky for pairs skaters.

If Volosozhar is changing countries, she would have to make the commitment within the next year, to meet the IOC requirements to have three years after the last international competitions for the old country. Radford wouldn't, because the last time he competed for Canada (with Hadford) in international competition was Skate Canada 2008, according to his ISU bio, which is also why he wouldn't have to sit out at all if he skates for any other country.

http://www.isuresults.com/bios/isufs00009291.htm

If they decided to skate for Canada, it could be a blessing in disguise, by giving them a longer period to gel as a team before they competed at Canadian Nationals. If they're not fully cooked, they could go on the international B circuit and 4C's the next year (2011-12), and probably Worlds, since Craig Buntin will be 30 this May and Anabelle Langlois will be 29 this July.

To Braulio's point that if she switches countries to skate with Trankov and could skate at Euros at Sheffield and Worlds at Nice, if she switches countries to skate with Radford, she could skate for Canada at 4C's in 2012 and Worlds at Nice. Yes, it might be harder to get an international spot skating for Canada, with competition, but I don't see that competition as being formidable if she and Radford click, especially after the first year.

If Steuer isn't happy in Germany, and managed to coach in Canada, that would solve the residency problem for her, for which she'd need an exception from the Canadian government if they trained in Germany, and she and Morozov could be Canadian citizens by Sochi. Steuer's Stasi past, however, could be an issue in getting permanent residency status for him to teach in Canada, although Canada could grant him a work visa instead.

He needs to get his motivation up for the Worlds to be able to impress Volo so that "she asks him"....but I think it would be a disasterous outing with such negative thinking.

Can we think who should we pair Moody Maria with, since this young girl wants to skate?

She really needs extra help with the jumps IMO.
