The ending of the video was so sad.

I hope Maria can also find a new partner.

I agree. Maria in particular looked crushed. She looks like she doesn't want the partnership to end (after years of looking like she wanted to kill him!). Who wants this split? The Federation? Trankov? Maria? All of them?

Watching that video I actually do feel bad for Maria. She really is a beautiful skater. As for who wants the split, from what I understand its Trankov. I don't know about the federation, but Trankov did mention that Piseev has long wanted V/T in an interview.

The thing is from what I gather Trankov is really just unhappy training with Oleg especially. And its not like from interviews, Maria is actually willing to leave Oleg.

Maybe though if the partnership doesn't work out with Tatiana, Trankov/Maria will try again. Perhaps with a little more appreciation of each other.

You have to wonder if there was tension there was with Maria, Tatiana, and Trankov all together at the show while this is going down.

Since I'm a fan, I suppose I shouldn't watch it while I'm at work, right? :wuzrobbed

Waiting would be my choice.

Are we sure that Trankov/Tatiana are happening. Someone on another board said she's also trying out with a Swedish guy. Is she just checking out her options until Trankov her are a done deal??

Ohhh this video broke my heart !:wuzrobbed
It's like when you break up with your lover, whatever the reason is, it's always a very sad moment. And for them it was both a professional partnership and a kind of personal relation, when you spend all your days with someone it gets very personal, and that's apparently the reason why they actually broke up.

It's so sad. They really looked good together, I always found them pleasing to watch, they are very elegant. She may not be the most expressive skater but she had very elegant lines. After all Tatiana Totmianina was as cold as the ice-barrier and she managed to win ! Maria is more expressive than TT...

Oh well, if they can't go along together they probably do better going each their own way and I'm looking forward to see how it works for Maxim and Tatiana V.
As for Maria hoepfully she will find a partner to continue skating.

It makes sense to me that she should try with more people; there's the chance for her and Maks not to fit, as I keep repeating :)

I would imagine though Trankov is the frontrunner? I mean is Niklas Hognar near Trankov's level?

bek-- Honestly, do you think they're comparable? She was also rumored to be trying with a Canadian, but then again, in many specialists' opinions Trankov is the best male Pairs skater at the moment, and I agree.

I haven't seen much of Hogner. The little I saw: Not close. But I was kind of asking what he was like...This will all be interesting.

Nope. Not a chance. Hogner hasnīt been competing at any level since 2007. Heīs been dreaming about Tatiana all the time though, calling her the best pair skater out there on Swedish eurosport year after year;) So itīs not a surprise he wanna try but it is not gonna work. Besides itīs a smarter choice to have the Russian federation behind you than the Swedish one :-) And there is the chemisty and the personality mismatch... Tatiana will be much better with Trankov.

Aww Moody Maria and Emo Maks ... at the end of that video it looked like they had reversed. It was Moody Maks and Emo Maria.

Doubly sad that this sport is so political. M/T should have had GPF bronze at least. If V/T work out together, I hope Federation politics won't keep them down.I know I have asked this before, but I never really understood. What does this mean? How does the Russian Federation and it's politics "dump" skaters? I mean does someone from the Russian Fed call all countries and ask them to give crappy marks to a pair? Why would they do this? When did this start? The Russian Federation I remember wanted it all, not just one skater on top, but all three medals in all 4 disciplines. How many Olympics and Worlds did we see two pairs on the podiums (and even three in some cases). When did they decide one is enough and they would politik the world to dump the other pairs?

This is not necessarily just a question to you elanfan, but I keep hearing this and really want to understand is there a basis for this theory.

I can understand internal politics in the sense that one team is given better marks consistently at National or local events. I can even understand "politics" playing a role in funding and event schedules for skaters, but international skater dumping just seems odd to me.
