After watching some more cumbia videos, I see Samuelson/Bates doing this too. Now, I would like to see Meryl and Charlie try west coast swing.

Are you sure about that? That's all the shows. All 40. I don't think they will be doing all 40. They are guest stars, not full time cast members. I know it says "Show Dates for Davis and White" but I can't believe they will actually be in all those shows. Hope we can get some clarification.

They haven't had Davis and White's dates listed until today, while other skaters have had their dates up since last week. Of course I don't know for sure if they will be doing all the dates, but why would the website just today put up all the dates? They could have left the schedule blank like they have for Shen/Zhao and Pang/Tong (and like it previously was for Davis/White).

Beautiful montage, franzlfan! Thank Juca for making it and thank you for the link.

You know some skaters are born for the powerful music and soundtracks. I think D/W should explore what they could do with LOTR. That's some powerful music and they would also be perfect for the characters...Meryl would make a gorgeous Arwen and Charlie would be fine as Aragon. It's been a while since anyone used LOTR and with three soundtracks to work with they could have more choices than just the most familiar theme.

ETA: Believe me, FSfan107, I hope I get to see them, too, in Orlando, but I just highly doubt they will be doing all those shows. For one thing, they always take vacation in May with their families and I also think they are planning to get back into their school schedule. I just can't believe they will do 40 shows. Hopefully we will find out for sure soon.

It's not all 40. They're not doing East Rutherford, NJ (aka the Meadowlands) and that's the one I'm going to! I wuzrobbed!!

But see, how do you know they won't be there, OlieRow? How do we find out for sure what shows they will or won't be in if SOI listed all 40?

Yeah, I'm skeptical that they will do all the dates too, tapdancer. Hopefully they'll be at the Raleigh and Orlando stops.:) Meryl and Charlie seemed to suggest in their interviews that they will be returning to the college in the fall. The only way school would interfere would be if they started taking classes in the summer sessions.

East Rutherford, NJ is not among the listed dates for Davis/White. (That is what OlieRow was referring to)

I was at the Mexican flea market in north Austin, TX, this week, and they were playing cumbia music on the loudspeakers-Both my husband and I said, "That would be :cat: purrfect for ice dance, just purrfect."

I could particularly see Meryl & Charlie doing it, because it has the athletic thing, and spin thing going. And it's very different from their recent FD's. Heck I could almost choreograph it myself for them. And the beat is slow enough that some awesome edges could be shown in the step sequences.

There is a piece they were playing at the flea market that is in some way to me reminiscent of I Hear You Knocking But You Can't Come In but in Spanish and a little faster.

That piece would be super perfect!

The idea of Meryl and Charlie doing a program to cumbia music makes me :scream::scream::scream::scream:

Yeah, but NJ was the ONLY show not listed, D/W's dates are 40 shows, the Tour Schedule is 41 shows. It just doesn't make sense. I don't recall the guest skaters in the past as doing that many shows. Having said that, I hope I'm wrong because I'd do whatever I could to make the Orlando show!

Someone care to explain to me what makes "cumbia" music "cumbia"? I'll admit it, I'm a musician but I have no idea what cumbia music is. And I want to know why T&Bfan is running from that idea! :)

I'm partial to a Selena cumbia FD for Meryl & Charlie. Cheez, the only time I have seen someone use Selena music was Josee Chouinard and that made my day because that is music I grew up hearing. Heck, I just want to see them try this dance style.

Cumbia dance has really intricate dance holds.

Here's some info on Cumbia dancing. I read somewhere that is kinda resembles a samba but with different footwork and hip movements. The type of cumbia I have posted videos on has been Mexican cumbia.

I understand TanithandBenFan's reservations towards this style of FD for Meryl and Charlie. IMO, Meryl could pull this off easily but I don't feel the same way about Charlie. Still I would like to see it done.

Thanks, hlp728, that helped a lot! And I agree that Meryl would do this very well but I also think Charlie could do pretty well with this, too. Charlie considers himself a good dancer (he rated himself in an old interview video they did) and I don't think he's had the opportunity to really show what he can do. His brief moves in their Indian OD looked pretty good to me! Still, I can see the hesitancy on them doing this kind of thing. For one thing, how about the music? It can't be cheesy and some of what I heard just doesn't work for a FD for me. I do think the intricate hand holds are great, love the twisting and turning. Interesting idea anyway!

I hope the show dates are right because that means they will skate in St. Louis. Happy Mother's Day weekend to me!!!

It's not all 40. They're not doing East Rutherford, NJ (aka the Meadowlands) and that's the one I'm going to! I wuzrobbed!!Sorry, OlieRow! Can you go to Hershey, or Reading? D/W are scheduled to skate in the Ice Chips shows in Boston on April 10-11, so that's why they won't be in NJ. They are scheduled for the Boston SOI show on the 11th, though - it starts at 4 and Ice Chips starts at 2 - it sure will be a busy day for them. Fortunately, the 2 arenas are fairly close to each other, but skating in both shows still seems like a stretch.
