A person whose on-line name is trilby just posted a lot of very high quality photos from US nationals. Here's my favorite ones of Meryl and Charlie from the set (scroll around either way from these for more photos).

Thanks, Doris! Those pics were amazing...especially the FD ones, the ones of the Phantom lift were fantastic. I also loved how the FD pics showed the intensity on their faces, especially Charlie. He really gave 100% every time they did that FD.

I'm just getting anxious for the season to start, and have been watching some old Meryl & Charlie vids.

What a generous performance by them at the 4CC's Gala-9 minutes & they performed all of 'Don't Stop Me Now' and 'Beyond the Sea'!

It was funny perfomance - Charlei forget about Meryl at all, look, like they made totally different things on ice. And ii had only 1 question - why this girl was on ice?

I love that performance! I was impressed with their stamina, I kept waiting for them to stop during the Beyond the Sea encore.

I can't wait to see what music they've chosen for this season!

'Cause she's an amazing ice dancer, that's why. Egads, I love that "Beyond the Sea" number. :swoon:

I loved that performance, too! I loved how Meryl looked over at Charlie when BTS started, they weren't in their starting positions for the music to begin where it did but that telepathic communication they have made it look like everything was normal! That definitely was a test of their stamina but they made it look easy.

ETA: Been searching youtube and I found a ton of waltzes...here's a few I would love to see D/W use.

I was wondering why none of us have mentioned that Meryl and Charlie could do "Nutcracker" again?

There are quite a few lifts in that dance, so I don't think you can truly claim he "forgot" about her...;)

And I don't think "Don't Stop Me Now" was ever about their connection, though there are one or two :smokin: moments. I'll always see it as a tribute to their fans in some sense, that they thought the song could actually work for them after the classic "Don't Stop Me Now" youtube montage. I don't know if they actually have seen it or if it's a gigantic coincidence (though it is hard to believe), but I'm going to blissfully assume it's the former.

I was wondering why none of us have mentioned that Meryl and Charlie could do "Nutcracker" again?

Oh, that would be lovely. Is the theme for the OD (50s/60s/70s) scratched then? Because I was even thinking, what about a "Beyond the Sea"-like waltz? There's a segment in that exhibition where they waltz around.

I actually discovered Meryl and Charlie (and ice dance and fs in general) by searching "Beyond the Sea dance" (how I got to that is a long story), and I remember that D/W's SA Exhibition was the 2nd hit, but the 1st hit was a ballroom dance to "Beyond the Sea." Here it is (I can't believe it's still there):

There are even some pretty lifts. :) I'd love to see D/W skate to this type of music again (since I'd bet they don't want to skate to the song Beyond the Sea again since they've already used it).

Oh and sorry to double-post, but I came across this lovely, haunting piece of music that Jeremy Abbott used in one of his LPs a few years ago, called "River Waltz" from the movie, "The Painted Veil:"

And hey, it's a waltz, though not as happy as the typical one. I think Meryl could show off the light ethereal-ness of it very well.

In fact, did someone bring up this piece of music before? I feel like "The Painted Veil" was mentioned in the past.

I love this waltz. Jeremy Abbott skated to it for part of his LP a couple of seasons ago. "Painted Veil" has great music and I think we mentioned it before as possible music to skate to.

I like the more somber tone it has. I'm sure there will be lots of happy waltzes. Hopefully there will be some variety.

Their lifts are great & effortless :) what could be more uplifting.

I can see that they will have to skate to "Wind beneath My Wings" though.

Or "Your Raise me Up" :(
