Recent video of D/W's OD from SOI. It almost looks like Meryl is skating with a completely different person, with Charlie's hair cut short.
Awww he looks like a little blonde 16 year old boy out there with his hair cut short....at least from the distance on the video. Haha so cute.:D

Wonder if they are about sick of skating that OD?
Oh thank god he cut his hair .. shorter hair - as much as you ladies love it - will give him added maturity on the ice IMO.

Well, it's debatable. I, too, like shorter hair on guys, but Charlie's curls...well, they are iconic now. But realistically, can he keep them on and on? I mean, he could, but do we want him to?
Clearly, an off-season topic to discuss here...between this and what music we want to see them skate to, we could go all summer. :)

Lol, doesn't Charlie cut his hair every summer? This isn't any different from normal, we just never have footage of D/W skating right after he gets his haircut. So to all those who want Charlie to have short hair during the season, you'll have to get past Marina first. "Nobody touches the hair, everyone loves Charlie's hair!"
Tapdancer, I was thinking the same thing, they must be tired of that OD. But then they probably had to practice it constantly during the season, so maybe this isn't so different? I could never do what they do.
On the music front, I recently discovered Venus, from Holst's Planet Suite. I'm not sensing much of a beat, however, so that may discount it from being used competitively in ice dance:

I also found this piece of music the other day that I thought was so pretty and haunting. And then realized it was similar to the intro music to Beauty & the Beast, maybe that's why. You probably wouldn't use just this piece for a program.

Just thought I'd share some of my recent finds, if it sparks anyone's imagination.

I like that! I've also enjoyed the other Carnival of Animal pieces. I was surprised to see Roger Moore narrating the concert. It seemed kind of random, but interesting. :)
I'm so off topic b/c I know these are not dance type pieces, but one of my favorites is the Lion section.

Roger Moore as in past James Bond Roger Moore? That is random.

I'm the same, I keep liking pieces without a beat. I like the Lion part, it almost sounds like a Baroque piece at moments after the first minute.

I can't find it right now on youtube, but Torvill & Dean did a very lovely number to "Venus", I believe it was around 1986...it was a World Pro championship comp, if I recall. It's a beautiful piece of music but yeah, no "discernable beat" there.
Really like "Aquarium", and yes, it reminds me of Beauty and the Beast, too!

T&D's Venus was the program that Chris was interviewed about, that gave rise to his comment about "the void". Hence voidy.

Having seen Charlotte and Dean's "City Lights" free dance nearly a year ago at Lake Placid, I must say with absolute certainty that THEIR performance captured every ounce of indescribable sweetness mentioned earlier in this thread.

I've decided I'm going to mention this song choice again...maybe one year they will decide to do it! I really would love to see them interpret "The Sorcerer's Apprentice". I actually really loved Steigler/Zimmerman's interpretation of it...the maiden being seduced by the Sorcerer. Maybe they could do a twist of that, though, and have Meryl in black as the Sorceress pursuing a reluctant Charlie. Either way, I'd love to see them give it a go.

Love this idea too!
I made a fd of from the King Arthur soundtrack. I'm pretty much awful at editing music lol...so excuse that if you watch it. The music that starts at like 3:07 i think it is...gives me chills! Haha I love it.

Thanks, amber, much appreciated as always!
I liked the King Arthur music, definitely in the powerful, stirring category. Gave me chills as well.
I don't know how skaters choose their music...so much to pick from and it would drive me mad!

I liked the Fast Footwork music, as an upbeat dance program. King Arthur was nice, but it's pretty much what they have been doing the last few seasons.
