Has Tessa taken hiphop classes? I thought it was Scott that did?
Yep, on CBC tv last year Tracy and William Thompson (ceo) referred to Tessa as a hip hop specialist, which is why they said pink floyd suits her. :)

Saw the CSOI show today and Tessa clearly could dance all night in a night club! lol!

FAB show. Nice to see Mahler live...not super crazy about their Gonna Make You Sweat # but still awesome to see them live finally.

Kurt, V&M and S&P got standing O's. Joannie did too.

The OD is going to be a CD+OD hot mess set to the Golden Waltz, or at least that's what it looks like. That being said, watching the clips from SOI, the way Tessa moves is just phenomenal and I hope they do something to bring that out in a competitive program. Of all the world class skaters out on the ice for the group number I find I can't take my eyes off her.

Did that actually pass? When did they vote? Or do they vote?

Hasn't passed yet, it'll be voted on at the ISU Congress that starts on June 12th. While it hasn't actually passed, federations/teams seem to have been told what changes to expect. Basically, it's going to pass and the dancers are starting to prepare their new FDs and "Short Dances" with the new rules in mind.

That makes me sad that they're making stupid rule changes. Regular people were just starting to like ice dance and now they have to screwing things up. I'm all for getting rid of cd but od are my favorite! I pray they don't pass all the "senseless" rules on that list... Like no depressing music.

I agree the rule changes sound incredibly stupid - change for change's sake. There is no sport as ludicrous as ice dance when it comes to regulations, or maybe just figure skating. With what other legitimate sport can a competitor find out a half hour beforehand that something they do "might" be illegal? It's asinine and not respectable.

Another topic - really grateful to fans and television in Japan for such clean, clear video of the Canadian and Japan SOI. Looking a gift horse in the mouth, I know, but the videos so far from Canadian fans at Canadian venues are unbelieveable. Somebody using their camera as a video camera AND a regular camera. People who multi-task despite lack of accomplishment at multi-tasking - videotaping, screaming and clapping AND attempting to video all sides of the rink at the same time, all without being in focus. I've learned to pop dramamine before hitting play. I know I'm being snide, and yes, I'd rather have these videos than none at all. Just needed to get it off my chest anyway.

People are excited to be there - I was at the Hamilton show last night - and I know that for me, taking pictures was secondary to enjoying the experience. Forget video - there was no way. If people do it, they're not doing it for the sake of excellent videography, and they're probably not doing it for your benefit, anyway. They're doing what they can, with what they have - and if it's not technically wonderful, well, don't watch it. A few years ago none of even that would have been possible.

Yes, thanks for the advice and insight.

They are doing it to share in part, or otherwise they would not triple post the videos on more than one fan forum, as well as on youtube. Yes, I do appreciate it and yes I am critical. Both things at the same time.

There are excited fans all over the world taking videos at shows of local demigods such as Yuna Kim, and yet the videos are at least semi-steady and semi in focus despite the excitement. Those aren't "technically wonderful", recorded by "excellent" videographers either. Watchable, yes.

*shrugs* Oh well. Fine to be critical, if that's how you choose to be. Just not worth it to me, I guess. Better than nothing. Orrrr go out and take your own video, too.

How do you think, could Tessa and Scott did dance number together? Is Scott could dance near to Tessa level?

I was at the Hamilton show this weekend! It was great! One thing that was very interesting for me... usually, when Tessa and Scott skate, they seem to draw you out onto the ice with them instead of projecting out to the audience. In the group numbers, they really projected to the audience. It would be cool (and different) to see them do something like that in their competitive programs.

I like this interwie from Tessa

http://www.vancouversun.com/sports/Virtue+Moir+Olympic+gold+hasn+lost+luster/2999796/story.html#ixzz0nGoYdvWp

“I think we have some creative license in the sense that we can experiment and try some new things, and maybe go in some different directions as opposed to playing it safe,” said Virtue.

“That said, it’s hard to defend your title. Everyone is coming up in the ranks, there are some great junior teams, and everyone is going to be pushing us at the top, so it’s tricky to come back and repeat. We feel that pressure, we put it on ourselves, but the thing we’ll take out of next season, hopefully, is some personal satisfaction in terms of what music we use, what choreography we incorporate – I think it will be a much more personal year for us.”

Hope they could show all this in next season. For me gold isnt important anymore ;)

I really hope they do something unique and a little voidy to really explore where they can go as dancers.

Of course, a big screw you to Speedy in the form of the most depressing FD ever would work too.

Yes, but champions could try to show even depressing FD ;)
But i think they will choose something modern.
