As a Vancouverite myself, I take offence to you not having a sense of humour. I linked to the video to show how "Canadians were just super-excited to see the winning of a gold medal in ice dance which has NEVER been done by a Canadian team."

And just so you're aware, the video did not take place at a livesite. It was at the outdoor CTV studio where any person could come and hang out.

And because drinking in public is illegal in Vancouver, people can't be drunk on the streets? Do you really live in Vancouver or do you live in Chilliwack?

I actually do have a sense of humour. But you had a one line attachment to your video so how are we supposed to know it was a joke. And why state that they were drunk instead of excited. Just a question.
And I know it was the CTV live site at Robson Square. I didn't intend it to mean it was Olympic sporting site. I know people can and have and will be drunk on the streets. I am just wondering why you jumped to that conclusion immediately. Again just a question.
Perhaps I am a little over sensitive in the way Vancouverites/fans have been depicted since an article came out comparing our Olympic fervour to Nazis.
I am assuming you meant that "Are you from Chilliwack" as an insult. I didn't personally insult you so please play nice.:)

It's illegal to drink on the streets of New York City, where I live. But I won't take offense if somebody assumes they see an awful lot of drunk people on the streets of New York City on Saint Patrick's Day. And New Year's Eve. And when the Yankees win the World Series. And Halloween. And when the Giants won the Superbowl. And when somebody big is playing Madison Square Garden. The reason I wouldn't take offense if it was assumed many are drunk is because many are drunk. We have a pretty effective police force, so things usually manage themselves peaceably even so.

Alas, we have no winter Olympian gold medalist to animate our civic pride, so I don't know if the populace would just hoist Smart Water and a round of hurrahs, or party a little harder if that ever happened.

So jealous you live in NY. I hear it is an amazing place to live and quite safe now. And that the police force is excellent. I was more taking offense that the poster just assumed they were drunk instead of saying excited. Perhaps they didn't mean it as a criticism, mocking or insult but I took it that way. Like I said perhaps a bit oversensitive.
Unfortunately though Vancouver has had some problems in the past with public drunkenness and rowdiness after Hockey games and during our summer fireworks.
Unfortunately we have had a lot of problems with gangs and violence etc lately here but this is so off topic. I love V and M and hope they stay eligible.

PS. You guys i.e the US did great at the Olys. And was so glad Lysacek won over Plushenko.

Well, you did, more or less-you had Sarah Hughes :) Great Neck, Long Island is close, and she was a member of the Skating Club of NY.

Did you guys celebrate then?

How about when Dorothy Hamill, and Carol Heiss, both members of the Skating Club of NY, won?

If you go to nbcolympics.com/video, I believe most Olympic programs are still available to watch.

This is one of the most BREATHTAKING performances I have ever seen. I get to see Scott and Tessa in Canadian Stars on Ice next week. I cannot wait!!

Since you're in Canada I'd imagine the CTVOlympics.ca site would have it.

Has this been posted here yet:
http://www.olympic.ca/en/news/montreal-host-canadian-olympic-paralympic-team-parade-april-23/

Montreal will be hosting a downtown parade for many of Canada's Olympic and Paralympic Athletes on April 23rd. Tessa and Scott are listed as athletes scheduled to be there! :)

I posted some info about this in a different thread, but for those of you who are interested, it looks like rds will be covering the Montreal parade with live streaming (in French, of course).

At http://www.rds.ca/, note the link "En direct - vendredi a 11h30: Defile des athletes canadiens".
