And it was a weak story line to begin with. This episode feels like several crammed into one.
Yeah, it really seems like the weakest episode of glee so far to me.

I'm wondering if maybe the episode switcheroo forced them to cut some scenes that would have made this flow better. Because the Jesse thing in particular seemed to come out of nowhere.

Keep in mind that when they were shot the episodes this one was supposed to come before lasts weeks, so that might help a little. I agree though, parts seemed random.

The scene in the parking lot totally broke my Rachel-loving heart. She was so happy, and then...
I did love seeing the other Glee kids ready to stand up for her though. Even Kurt!

A dancing chorus of pregnant teenage girls?
Now I've seen everything.
I noticed two "So You Think You Can Dance" alums in this number: Courtney Galiano (http://www.fox.com/dance/bios/all-stars/courtney-galiano/) and I think Lauren Gottlieb (http://www.fox.com/dance/bios/all-stars/lauren-gottlieb/).
ETA: Found an interview with Lauren (http://blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2010/06/glee-vocal-adrenalines-lauren-gottlieb-talks-wardrobe-malfunctions-injuries.html) where she talks in the article about the SYTYCD/Glee crossovers.

Really bizarre episode. The Will/Sue storyline did not work at all for me. The promos had much more Terri/Finn hints and then ... they googled something together? I really hate when episode orders are messed with. ABC did it to Alias season 4 and there were a ton of  wtf moments.
Terrible ramp-up to the finale, but the promos for the finale ep? Awesome.

I have to say that every pregnant woman I know in her 3rd trimester certainly isn't jumpin around and dancing around like Quinn! :P Like seriously?
Anyhoo, can't seem to find a lot to like about this episode. I did like the heartbreak of what Jesse did. I wish Jon Groff would stay :( It was such a good scene. I swear you could see it coming from a mile away though.
I have to say the idea that Audio Adrenaline can't 'find the funk' is lame and ridiculous. And I have to say I didn't really feel the performance in anyway out-shone AA.
I don't know, can't say this was in anyway my fav episode. It probably is almost or is at the bottom of my list.

The past 3 episodes have been so weak, to me. Totally piecemeal editing. I feel like they're losin' it.
Quinn has way too weak and flat of a voice to pull off "It's a Man's Man's Man's World". And for Mercedes to be all about being the only person who can bring funk, for her to take the featuring vocal in a Marky Mark song is just odd and off.
I hope this last episode is better! They've really been losing it!

Ugh! Agree with all said above, and will add ...
Pick a side, Glee. Are you the breezy live-action cartoon that features a grown woman with a house full of trophies, new booster-provided SUVs for every member of a glee club  (as-if this is college football!) ... and a "girl" who may have already had her first facelift (Jesse's VA mean girl peer)?
Or an after-school special that features an out-of-place line that a 16 year-old African American girl must be "scream all the time" angry because of the racism she faces ... in her upper-middle class, existence? (Or was that conversation about Mercedes being plus-sized? Either way, c'mon now, heavy-handed talk for a fluffy show like this.)

That episode just made me uncomfortable way too many times. When Mr. Schu finished off with "Hump Day," my roommate and I were wailing, "MAKE IT STOP!!!"

I have to admit, I enjoyed it. :shuffle:
Three main reasons:
1. "Loser". :respec:
2. Pucky Puck and the Funky Bunch :swoon:
3. Sue's track suit and PEARLS  So subtle, but soooo perfect.
Only thing missing was a good Brittany zinger.

I enjoyed it more than I thought I would, but it's still not near the top of my favorites. My heart broke for Rachel, and Sue's showing of real emotion had me. The only thing that bothers me, and it's not just this episode, but all the recent ones, is the need for a theme. I get the assignment part, but it limits the kind of songs performed. I liked it more where all the songs were from all over the place, a little something for everyone. So now I either love the episode, or not so much.

I liked it better than last week, at any rate. Just can't get into the Ga. LOVED Loser, I just wish we could've heard the entire song.

Every time he says that, I have a Charlie's Angels flashblack. "Angels, your next assignment..."

I actually thought this episode was one of the better ones in the second half.
The Mercedes picking Marky Mark after making fun of white people and their inability to do funk made sense to me because it went with the whole team in a "funk" theme and the subplot of assumptions and being judged. It wasn't the best illustration nor was it the best execution of that theme.
Glee has always been a little uneven with the way they handle characters and storylines, but it's not really meant to truly fit into a box. I think that forcing Glee to conform to "pick what kind of show it wants to be" will just destroy it.
IMO, I like that we have a show that sort of goes off in many different directions. It doesn't always work, but it keeps the audience on its toes. Not many shows can pull it off, but Glee does most of the time and I think that's why people love it. It mixes the absurd with some semblance to authenticity. As to the criticisms that the show can be emotionally manipulative, true. But what show or work of art hasn't been that at times?
BTW, even if I didn't already know these episodes were switched, I think it still worked anyway. A lot of these storylines don't really need to be spelled out and sometimes you can just assume things fell the way they did. As for the Jesse betrayal thing, it totally makes sense. He told his Vocal Adrenaline coach that he had feelings for Rachel and didn't want to see her hurt. That was when he found out his true feelings for her. However, he is very much like Rachel and is very ambitious. He is a show person and wants to go on the path that would lead him to the most success, and the egg scene showed that he made his choice. It was difficult but he crossed a line that he would probably never be able to recross again, unless Rachel forgives him (which with her fragile self-esteem may seem possible).
The funk number was sort of weak, IMO. But then I also found Vocal Adrenaline's number even weaker. I'm hoping they're saving the best choreography for the finale. I can't wait to see what they come up with. I don't know if the creators did this on purpose, but Vocal Adrenaline does not seem as strong and unbeatable as they were when you saw them in the past few episodes. They're not even that impressive anymore. I don't know if the show let the ball drop on this one, or if the writers/producers/directors decided that they will look less "golden" as New Directions continues to improve.
As for the Sue/Will thing. I thought it was hilarious even if we all knew how it was going to play out. It gave Jane Lynch some golden lines and showed off Sue very well (both in the evil and in the vulnerable) without having to have Sue dominate the story and thus making it weaker.
