I loved this episode. Kurt was fabulous. My favorite line was the one about who it was that lost their power when they lost their hair. Agassi!

Does anyone know the extent of Zack Weinstein's actual paralysis. At one point he very visibly moved his upper right arm. I have read that he can't use his hands... I wonder if that character will come back (in a few weeks? When Finn said he would visit?) otherwise, it was kind of random.

.

He is paralyzed from mid-chest down, so he would be able to move his hands.

I hope he doesn't come back--I don't want a lurrrve triangle over Rachel, and it almost looked like they were going that direction :yikes:

But if he could use his hands he would be a paraplegic, not a quadraplegic as the actor calls himself.

This was the article where I got that he couldn't use his hands: http://www.nypost.com/p/entertainment/tv/glee_for_all_u2oARPOuLQQzODujSFfzZP and I believe that, because I have nerve damage from when I broke C5 and it mostly affects my hands, I was damn lucky the bone didn't hit my spinal cord any harder than it did. His injury was C4-C6.

I'm just wondering if he has actual control over his upper arms, or if the move was involuntary. I think he does his shoulder. I was also impressed with his neck mobility based on the fact that I assume he has at least a 5 level fusion.

The pictures of him sitting in his wheel chair seem to be of him unsupported- that seems like you'd need more than just "above the mid chest" to be able to do.

SShhhhh!! Cause this is like the most unpredictable plot twist ever! :slinkaway

From what I've heard, Menzel's appearance has a bit more to do with the producers wanting to get Broadway stars in background roles for the series. But that yes, they are also quite aware of the noted resemblance between Menzel and Lea Michele... I'm actually a little disappointed that Menzel's and Kristin Chenoweth's paths weren't able to cross during these back 9 episodes, though that would have been overly convoluted even by "Glee" standards.

EW's Michael Ausiello had a blind item a month or so ago that stated two stars hated each other and would not work together. The comments suggested it was Chenoweth and Menzel. I have my doubts but who knows..

From what I have read and seen about Wicked, this is absolutely untrue... by all accounts they are the absolute best of friends. I've never seen anything different. If they do hate each other, they do a really good job hiding it. I read an interview with the creator of the show saying that they couldn't come up with any reason whatsoever for the two characters to cross paths and have the storyline still make sense, and they didn't want to just do it for the sheer hell of it, so they didn't.

But if he could use his hands he would be a paraplegic, not a quadraplegic as the actor calls himself. Not that I would consider a Wikipedia entry (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quadriplegia) as the last word on medical terminology, but:Quadriplegia, also known as tetraplegia, is paralysis caused by illness or injury to a human that results in the partial or total loss of use of all of their limbs and torso....A common misconception with quadriplegia is that the victim cannot move legs, arms or any of the major function, this is often not the case. Some quadriplegic individuals can walk, use their hands and live a life as if they did not have a spinal cord injury, while others may use wheelchairs, they can still have function of their arms and mild finger movement, again, varying on the spinal cord damage.

I loved the episode. Loved cringing at the Britt and Kurt stuff, LOVED Mercedes singing jazz.

My only criticism: There is no star world in Super Mario Bros. 3. That's in Super Mario World on SNES.

Not that I would consider a Wikipedia entry (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quadriplegia) as the last word on medical terminology, but:

Very interesting.
This sentence in the (always highly reliable of course) article made me wonder if I actually fit this definition. (I'm thinking not)
Some quadriplegic individuals can walk, use their hands and live a life as if they did not have a spinal cord injury,

I have a small fluid filled "hole" (for lack of remembering the medical term) in my spinal cord from where the bone hit it- and nerve damage in my hands, and a few other locations, but otherwise, you'd have no idea I had fractured my neck with spinal trauma that resulted in temporary paralysis.

Interesting things Glee makes me think about.

That's how much of a nerd I am, I immediately thought that!
It bothered me and DH too. What a dumb mistake to make.

:soapbox: All John Mellencamp records are not about the same thing! And Kurt's sullen delivery of Pink Houses was a disservice to the Hoosier. Sigh, Glee owes we JM fans a JM song, rightfully done in contrition.

Really enjoyed this eppy, though, got to say. Kurt & Dad = the heart of this show. Puck & Mercedes = great together (as were Santana & Mercedes in battle and in duet).

Ginger Nymph = didn't appear in the episode, right? Love that. Bring back Terri! Don't care if it's got to be snarky divorcee/new art teacher, or something. I like the actress. Besides, the show needs another instigator who can take a load off of Sue ... give Jane Lynch other angles to pursue with her character.

I suspect that we will get some JM song done right, but this episode was about Kurt trying to be something he is not. And thinking the more macho he sang the song, the better his dad would like him. I doubt that the Glee producers really think that Mellencamp records/hits are about the same thing. If they can do Vanilla Ice, MC Hammer, they will get it right.
