1) Maybe, but I'm sure it's moot.
2) A sekret competition of twelve rounds patterned after a reality tv show.

I. Absolutely. Daddy Sioux likes being in charge. :puppet:
II. Well RIskatefan or whatever has been a user since 03'. So I'm sure longevity is key. Having some type of relationship to SHARPIE probably helps as well...

from an article (http://www.counterpunch.org/piety02192010.html) on the CounterPunch(!) website:

Itís been widely acknowledge that the new judging system has not been good for the sport. Itís not just the new judging system, though, thatís killing the sport. Itís been dying a slow death for decades. Passion needs community to truly flower, and art needs the stimulation of many minds to grow and develop. Itís the recognition of that fact that lies behind the creation of ďartists colonies.Ē Dancers hang out with other dancers, musicians with other musicians, writers with other writers because of a shared passion. Skaters, when they hang out with anyone, tend to hang out with the skaters with whom they share a coach because, well, what choice do they have? They arenít allowed to gravitate toward people in their sport with whom they have a natural aesthetic affinity. Art knows it needs like minds. It positively craves them. So when an activity makes some other criterion the determining factor in the formation of social relationships, the message that is sent to the participants, the message they all understand, even if they cannot articulate it isĖthis is not art.

I agree.
I disagree.

I do not think the new scoring system is responsible for the declining popularity of figure skating, because figure skating has been in decline for some time now. But it certainly has not helped. However the idea of points instead of the 6.0 system is a good thing.

What a wonderful addition to the shrine. We can hang it above the alter. Or perhaps above the dungeon doorway with a jingle bell attached at the end during the holidays--it'll be like mistletoe!
