auntie falling_dance, neither you nor Sparks-san are skary. Soo-chan, now, that is a different story!

for #185 -- Flatt improved this last year, I hope she continues to grow, to be honest. It's always more interesting that way.

Closing ceremony!

Shouldn't that be "Carmen-free until March 27"? :saint:

I don't know if I'll watch it.

An odd pairing, but...

Rudyard Kipling
Shel Silverstein?

Please God, no more Gershwin or Bernstein unless the music selection is unusual and the choreography awesome. I can't stand this late 50s-early 60s nostalgia kick so many seem to be on, though I know it's pretty much on schedule and is actually a sign that the era will soon lose its purchase on popular culture for good.

I was going to say "forget geopolitics", but then all of those years were terrible in that regard, so it probably wouldn't be a deciding factor, anyway.

Which Olympic champion will most likely stay until 2014?
I think all of the 2010 Olympic Champions will retire before 2014. Virtue/Moir will stick around for Turin worlds and maybe another 1-2 cycles, because they want to win at least one world title plus maybe the Grand Prix Final title as well. (eys, they will consider that the Olympic title is the greatest prize of them all, but it does not replace a missing world title, and the world title has a far longer history)

1981 because that's when my dearest Auntie falling dance was born, non? :2faced:

Which is better: to be a 3x world champion with no Olympic gold medal
an Olympic Champion with no world medal?

02-27-2010, 03:14 AM
an Olympic champions with no world medal :cheer2:

most exciting:
short track speed skating
short distance swimming
short distance running

02-27-2010, 03:18 AM
to be a 3x world champion with no Olympic gold medal

I would pick this, unless the second scenario included holding one or more "super-regional" ISU titles. :D

short track speed skating

short distance swimming
platform diving?

02-27-2010, 03:23 AM
platform diving

Who is greater?
Sonja Henie, Norway
Katarina Witt, GDR
and if you don't pick Sonja Henie, her spirit will beat yo arse

02-27-2010, 03:28 AM
Probably Henie, alas.

2010 Winter Olympics?

02-27-2010, 06:09 AM
2010 Winter Olympics

Assuming Kim retires, the Mao Goddess' most formidable opponent will become:
Mirai Nagasu
a Japanese up and coming girl
another American girl (Rachael Flatt, ____________)

02-27-2010, 06:34 AM

Probably Mirai, if she keeps improving at the rate she's been this season.
