7th end and PEI is up 2 and really put the pressure on Jones. I wouldn't have forecast this outcome at all. Bravo PEI for really holding your own. :)

Jennifer Jones still has that lucky horseshoe wedged up her ass. The luckiest skip and team in curling history bar none. If she does fluke her way to another win it will be fun watching her come 4th at Worlds yet again.

Jennifer Jones is bar none the luckiest womens curler in history. I doubt we will see another luckier curling team for the next 100 years. She is the only one who makes me actively root against Canada at a World event as well (and here she rarely lets me down atleast). Good luck to China, Sweden, Switzerland, at the Worlds. Good luck to Canada at the Olympics (where blissfully we wont have to watch Jones).

I was crushed at the result yesterday... That darn draw in the 8th!!
PEI sure showed composure and confidence in their matches... They will definitely be a force to be reckoned with next year in Charlottetown... It's just a sin that they weren't coming back as Team Canada, so 2 teams from the island would be there!! Talk about a fairytale!

Having lived on PEI, I was convinced it would be a sign of the apocalypse if a PEI team won a national championship  At most national events in any sport, it's a battle between PEI, the Northwest Territories, and the Yukon for last place....it's a good competition for the PEI team if they don't finish last.
(Not a slur on the talent or motivation of PEI athletes, BTW....but you can only do so much with limited coaching, training and travel resources.)

In terms of PEI women's curling, the ladies have been playoff or at least tie-breaker contenders on and off over the years. I think Suzanne Birt, and Robyn McPhee had made the playoffs or tiebreakers in the past.

And Suzanne Gaudet's rink won world juniors in 2001.

All very true. When it comes to Curling, the PEI Ladies have done far better than the Men have over the years.
judgejudy, you'll get a laugh out of this. I call Jennifer Jones "The Princess", for obvious reasons, and Mom remarked at one point last week that she doesn't know anyone who can't stand Jennifer more than I do. I replied, "I can introduce you to someone on the Curling thread at the one skating board I belong to who does!!"
:D :D :D
I'm not a FSU paid subscriber, so I won't be around in any Olympic discussions period as of Friday. I'll miss cheering on Cheryl and the Girls and Kevin and the Guys w/all of you, but it goes w/out saying...
GO GET 'EM TEAMS!!! KICK SOME OLYMPIAN BUTT OUT THERE!!
:D
Enjoy the Games Everyone!! :)

Thanks for telling me about that. You are right I got a good laugh out of that one, and yes you are right that there is atleast one person out there who likes JJ even less than you do. Good nickname for Jennifer as well.

Hey - I called my father afterwards to see if he watched it, and he just said, "I turned it off after the last shot. I couldn't stand to watch "that" thing winning the trophy again...so I turned it off."

Been bopping back and forth between TAR/Closing Ceremonies of the Paralymics in Vancouver here in the basement and the game w/Norway upstairs and...Just when you thought it was safe to go back into the Curling Rink...
The girls from Norway were...Shall we say inspired, by the guys at the Olympics as there they are wearing multicoloured polka dotted pants!!
I actually think they might just be louder than the Men's team at Vancouver were and I can't believe I'm saying that either!!
