I don't know...for me, the texture skeeves me out. Just like some people can't eat certain types of food because of the way they smell/taste/feel, I am that way about baby food.

LOL! It's not like it's dog food!:dog: I would not want my child eating anything I would not eat, myself...and probably did when I was that age.

Well, yeah, but when you mix it into things, it doesn't have that texture. Pureed food mixes in so smoothly that you aren't even aware it's there; it's almost liquid, after all.

I've made cakes with baby food; like I said, it's just like applesauce. It blends rights in and makes a cake (or muffins) moist. Plus when you use baby food carrots, the carrots are nitrate free, which usually can't be said of carrots you buy and prepare yourself. I made most of my kids' baby food, but you aren't supposed to make your own carrots for that reason.

I still don't get it. What's wrong with baby food?
I don't get it either. :slinkaway: Like Prancer said, it's just pureed veggies or fruit.

The carrot coconut though...I will agree with! :scream:

My thought is that while baby food is mega-healthy and all, it is also sold in tiny expensive little jars. So Nasty Sandy telling people to use baby food in a recipe instead of the non-baby-food alternative is just like how she tells people to buy a big jar of spice but only use 1/8 tsp of it, to scoop out premade pie fillings to make petit-fours, to use pre-chopped veggies instead of chopping their own, etc. etc. In other words, to use a really expensive and impractical ingredient whenever possible.

I have had recipes that use baby food in them. What's the big deal? It's just pureed food; no different from using applesauce.

ETA: A whole mess of recipes using baby food: http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Baby-Food-Cake-II/MoreRecipesLikeThis.aspx

Dangnabbit, woman, this thread isn't for your fancy book-learned pie charts! The only way we'll accept that is if you intend to muck up those pie charts with some Cool Whip and call them baked Alaskas.

You tell her, jamesy baby. I mean, really.

Hahahahahaha! Prancey totally smashed her Baked Alaska Pie Chart into jamesy's face like Nasty Sandy on a deep-fried vodka bender at the State Fair.
